What Do Ya Think?? (Funky Clip)

Here's about a minute's worth of my rendition of some Steely Dan-type stuff. The backing is my Yamaha keyboard on one of the demo settings and I'm just playing along. It's my Variax through my Flextone III.

LaidBack

BTW, you're probably gonna have to use Windows Media Player...

That tone is great!

Which model were you using on the Variax?

Really proffesional playing, really melodic and well executed :D

Shame it's not longer man, I love that kinda stuff

Re: What Do Ya Think?? (Funky Clip)

Hey Nuntius, thanks for the kind words!!

The Variax was set to the ES-335 bridge setting. That would be "Semi" in the models knob and pos #1 on the 5-way switch. The Flextone III had a lot to do with that tone too. I'll have to go back and check exaclty what it's set to.

WOW... and I used to think digital stuff is crap... man, you sure know how to use it. My problem is that I have zero patience to tweak these things :)

Awesome playing, you really have a great feel. Man this is pro playing indeed. Not a freaking flaw. I really enjoyed it. We want more !!! :)

Thanks man!! Actually with the Variax, you turn the knob to the guitar model you want and play...

I have another clip in the "Tele Wrangling" thread. It's my Telecaster though....

Yeah man, I tried the Variax through a flex III and I didn't think much to it at the time.

Must have been using the wrong settings!

For me, the Variax took a couple of weeks to really get used to. The Flextone III took about a month or more. There were several times when I was just going to take it back and get a good ole' Fender. I'm glad I stuck with it.

Re: What Do Ya Think?? (Funky Clip)

let me get this straight.. a guitar that imitates other guitars pickups?like a tele sound or a PAF humbucker?

Re: What Do Ya Think?? (Funky Clip)

Yes, I have 28 different vintage guitars in my Variax...

Check this out....

Variax Manual

Go to page 12. This is a PDF so make sure you have Adobe Reader installed.

I really like the phrasing and the cord progression.

The tone is professional - nothing to talk about there.

Very nice! This kinda proves that playing less but in a cooler way usually tells more about the player.

Sometimes restraint has its merits... :)

Is the clip still available? I'm getting an error message.

Yes, it should be available; but I'm having trouble getting to the webserver. It could be down or experiencing some issues. Try back a little later.

It looks like the server is having some issues. Hopefully they'll be resolved soon.
