What do y'all use to record?

Do those PODS let you go straight into the computer without any additional software?

Yes. They're made for that. Just plug their output to the Line-in of the sound card.

Marin, you have a SCORTCHING tone, which is always well recorded...

Thanks man! :)

I always think that some great records like the Dark Side of the Moon and later Steely Dan records have been recorded with analog technology or, at the best, with 16bit digital.

There seems to be a lot of hype to get the 24/96 soundcards when we're not even using the 16 bit ones 100%.

By the way, your tone is no joke, man! ;)

software- still messing with random programs
hardware- sennhieser e609, XLR to 1/4 inch transformer(only reason i got the transformer version is because they didn't have a regular xlr to 1/4 since all i needed was low-z), 1/4 to 1/8 adaptor, then line in on my turtle beach santa cruz soundcard

Re: What do y'all use to record?

Pod 2.0
Soundblaster Audigy
Sonic Foundry Vegas 4.0
" " Soundforge 6.0
" " Acid Pro 4.0

Sound Forge has been the simplest to use with the least problems, Ive tried tons.

I use 16 bit and its just fine, sometimes we have to concentrate on the music, not how expensive the gear is that we use.

Re: What do y'all use to record?

Once my uncle gets here, I will be running Steinberg Cubase SX with the Amplitube plug-in.

Re: What do y'all use to record?

Has anyone used an axetrak (http://www.axetrak.com/) for recording? The sounds samples are promising, but the amps he used for them are pretty limited (JCM900, Fender Roc Pro, and Randal RG).... Wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience.

I haven't tried one yet, but I may give in to GAS. Being able to record the guitars for next disc at home is very appealing to me - and I don't like PODs much.

Re: What do y'all use to record?

I use a Lexicon Lambda with a Studio Projects BX-1 condenser mic. I use Cool Edit, alongside with Beatcraft.. I have only recorded a couple of songs with this setup though..

Edit: all right, this thread is old. Nice. ;)

Re: What do y'all use to record?

Holy cow dude, this thread's almost three years old!

I now no longer have my POD, Drum Machine, or mixer. I DO have a Mac Laptop Garageband on it but no way to record myself. :laugh2:

Virtual Kevorkian's helping me getting set up for home laptop recording. I'm in the process of getting money for an external hard drive, more RAM on the Mac, a Saffire interface/pre and a new recording program.
