WOW, what do I do indeed?
Well, it truly depends on the song I'm playing. If it's a clean song with a clean solo I usually have the guitars volume down a bit so I can just turn it up a bit during the solo. If I need a little more I click on my amps onboard EQ which I have setup to give me a little boost.

If I need an overdriven solo over a clean song, I will switch to one of my amps 2 drive channels, and of course I can engage the onboard EQ on those channels independently as well.

Dirty over dirty, I usually just switch to the higher output gain channel, and/or eq thing.

My amp is a Mesa Boogie Mark IV (tubes)

That's what I do.

I switch pickups.
Change the tones.
Pull the push-pull pots.

mostly switch to the neck pup(i like singing and smooth lead sound) and change to the second master volume knob on the amp via footswitch. I have one master set to rhythm volume and the other one set to the extra volume i need for soloing.

It does depend on what guitar I'm weilding, but...

It's very rare that I play completely clean lead. I generally add a Compressor/Sustainer [CS-2 mostly] or similar from my Boss GT-6. Then I'll have some kind of 'Driver' not necessarily O/D, but maybe just a touch as a minimum. delay, Chorus and Leslie Sim' here and there.

Yes, it sounds Gilmourish! It's what I like.

For classic rock tracks other than above, the CS-2 and an O/D. The GT-6 gives me a few choices of 'voicing'. Again subtle Delay and Chorus.

I use a single channel amp, and most of my guitars are wired like Les Pauls. I use an OD as a boost for solo-y sections, I have the neck pickup generally set at a lower volume for "clean" sections.

these days ive been more and more using my phase 90 on solos. i really like the kinda glassiness it adds, not to mention the cool sounding effect in itself.

just roll your finger down all the knobs on your amp! ... just kidding (bill and ted). all i need is a good distortion, good guitar and amp, and a little bit of reverb.

i use a tube amp.
when its time to solo. i turn on some reverb and chorus and up the volume another about 10% (all programmed in my multi efx pedal)

Exact same thing here... I love amps with 2 master volumes. :)

I use a three channel preamp: clean, OD1 = solo, OD2 = rhythm. OD1 and 2 are the same sound, OD1 is a little higher volume, and has a bit of delay and 'verb in its effects loop - that way all I have to do is switch to OD1 to get the volume boost and effects with one switch and no MIDI. The preamp is a Peavey Rockmaster, which has the best efx loop options ever - one per channel, one for the two OD channels, and one for the whole mess.

I use the neck pickup, an EMG 81 for now, and place my foot atop any appropriate monitors or other cabinets that may be in range. I sometimes make "solo faces", and quite often make vaugely sexual motions with the guitar towards my wife.

For clean I use my neck single coil only. Clean channel on my ENGL tube amp, and boost the volume using the 20DB volume boost on my footswitch. Perhaps a bit delay and chorus added.

Dirty: Bridge humbucker, sometimes neck single coil. TS-9 or SD-1 into clean channel for cut.

I don't really do anything extraordinary. I'm a guitar-amp kind of guy, so with no pedals in the chain most I would do is roll up a volume or tone or switch pickups. I do have a two-channel amp, but most times I find myself turning knobs or changing attack.

I tend to play rhythms at 8 on my volume knob, so I normally flick it up to 10 with my pinky. I really don't need that much of a boost when soloing, because the band I'm with most is just a guitar/bass/drummer trio.

I generally prefer to solo on the neck/neck+middle positions, but sometimes I do go all Yngwie on your ass and switch between neck and bridge 7 times in a solo.

I usually stomp on my Bluesdriver in front of my driven amp to add some more gain in there to smooth things out a bit

I believe that's called "going all Blackmore on your ass".

Depends on the song - sometimes I just turn up the guitar volume, maybe switch from tapped to full humbucking (on my 59-equipped Schecter). If the song calls for it, I can also add the Keeley Ultra DS-1. I usually turn off hte modulation effects during a solo. Chorus on jangly rhythm parts = good. Chorus thinning out weedly-weedly solos = bad.

Boss GE-7 with mids and low mids boosted, usually drop the tone till 7 or something, and let 'er rip. :D Sounds much fatter, but still 'bites' hard enough to cut through.

SS modeling amp, by the way.
