what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

I don't actually have a clue, but they certainly look cool as heck!

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

I guess they sound really good!

Now we just need wooden strings :D

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

Never seen that before. They sure are pricey.

I wonder what their life expectancy is compared to a traditional pick material.

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

never heard of them...REALLY cool idea, but wayyyy too expensive...don't think it would affect tone much IMHO though, considering how little of the pick comes in contact with the string, but I could be wrong...

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

little black Dunlop Jazz 3's FTW........that's all I have to say about that ;)

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

Awsome!
Personally, I need a bit of flex in the stroke, but otherwise I would be all over those.
Have worked with Lignum vitae before - amazing hardwood.
The other exotics look great, and would have great feel between the fingers.

the cocobolo pick might look cool with the v im having done

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

me thinks i might order a few of these. looks pretty cool

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

I love the tone I get from a sharp-edged plastic pick, and don't think I could get the same bite & attack from a wooden pick. Since I use 250K pots on my bridge HB's, I rely on a plastic pick to give me enough cut. Works great for me.

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

Seems like wood picks would sound good, but they cost a lot, and I wouldn't expect them to last long enough.

I need my picks to have some flex, and I doubt that those things have much. I did make a pick out of copper once, which has no flex. Sounds very good actually. Gets a very clean glassy sound, but it's not something I can just casually use because it took a long time to make and polish, so I don't want to loose it, and it can be a little rough on strings, and I don't want to scratch up my guitars with the thing.

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

They look pretty cool. Pretty expensive though. I pick really really hard. I dont know how they would hold up for me.

I agree with this. I played with metal picks and they are just too rigit. Even the really thin ones.

I don't think they would sound that good - especially for the money

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

I use picks that are easily replaceable. I hate getting used to some esoteric pick, that I am lost if I am without it.

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

I can't imagine those would last long at all compared to regular picks. I'm on the same picks that I was years ago, playing daily.

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

If you dont need flex, these wood types would last well.
This type of wood is alot harder than rock maple. More like a stone resin type of thing. They would not splinter up,

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

i use brass, zinc, horn, mother of pearl, agate, coconut shell and ebony plectrums for various things. i mostly use this company http://www.dugainpicks.com/
My ebony pick is awesome, i love the sound. the pick wears down at about the same rate as a hard plastic one. it's not that easy to use to start but its well worth getting used to. i find plectrum choice to be an important part of getting the sound i need, particularly the attack

Re: what do you guys think about wooden guitar picks

those are really cool looking. how long do they last compared to dunlop green tortex?
