What do you guys think of my tone here?

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Hey man, I dig it a lot.

That Twangbanger is fatter than I expected, but still not quite a Tele sound. I dug it.

The neck pickup stuff sounded excellent, as well.

The tones you are getting sound more like humbucker tones than single coil tones, oddly.

I guess it's that transparent / clean boost?

Any way you slice it, I was all geared up to make fun of you, but the clip was so good I actually felt compelled to abandon my plan and leave some real feedback! :laugh2:

Love it man, that Tricaster has the sound to back up the wild blueprint!

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Cool tone, sweet playing. When I first started, it reminded me somewhat of Danny Gatton, then I heard more mids (not a bad thing)...so I guess, it sounds kind of like a fat tele.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Yeah, baby! Great tone here for sure. Nice and snappy. I'm not as much into the neck pickup tone, but it's still great—nice 'n' chewy. I just happen to love the snappiness of the bridge so much that anything else pales in comparison.

Great job, Greg! Makes me want a Vibrolux that much more.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

I like the tone. The switch to the neck pickup reminded me of kicking on a tube screamer. I'd like to hear the two pickups together.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

nice greg. you are getting some fat tones out of that SSL-1 in the neck. all around great tone and playing. we need to jam sometime soon. seriously!

PS> I love the tricaster.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

awesome man! Im glad good tone is in the hands of an actual playa that also records his stuff!

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

that long held note that goes into near feedback on the neck pickup right before the end is worth the price of admission all by itself

very happenin

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

I like the tone, and you shouldn't worry about your playing it sounds pretty good to me.

I know what you mean about being recorded. Sometimes once I hit the record button it also clicks a button in my head and makes me start to fumble.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Nice and smokey and sizzles on the edges. Reminds me very much of something Billy Gibbons would have done. I dig it.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Threads like this make me realize how much guitarists really over focus on the guitar tone which ironically tends to produce worse results than if we allowed our egos to take a step back and make a tone that actually fit the context of the mix rather than.
It's not that it's bad as such, but it becomes way too much of the main focus here

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

The TB is OK, but the SSL + Vibrolux tone absolutely smokes .......... great clip!

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

dig it, but I'd like to hear more reverb (from the amp of the same name ironically!), the lead sound is just a tad dry for my tastes, but I'm splitting hairs here.

Danny Gatton! I am not worthy! LOL! Thanks bro.

Thanks Keith! I gotta be honest though, you really don't necessarily hear what I consider the "Vibrolux" here (IMO), but it goes to show you how a Lux can accept a good OD pedal and really sound awesome.

I know I originally said this was just the Cool Cat (STOLEN COPY OF A TIMMY!!), but after thinking about it I very well may have kicked in my HBE Power Screamer for that part. I forget since I recorded this several months ago.

Agreed KB. Lets jam so you can teach me some stuff!

hehehe! Thanks man. I like to play with big, fat long sustaining notes. It helps me to fill space where otherwise I wouldnt know what to play. LOL

Seriously dude, I can't do it most times.

BFG!!! I am not worthy!

The SSL-1 is a super smoking PUP. Thanks bro!

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Oh...PS.... I should record just me the Tricaster into the cranked Vibrolux Reverb. You'd swear you were hearing a Tele. It gets REAL twangy.

i feel just the opposite actually. i like the bridge tone alot but the neck is just ok. good clip though

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Really liking it. Both pickups serve their purposes, I can dig 'em both for their own uses. The sustain part is really sweet - kinda draws the listener in, and spits him out. Cool!

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

If/when another UGD happens you should bring that guitar if you can. I'd love to give it a spin.

Re: What do you guys think of my tone here?

Nice clip! I, too, sing the praises of the SSL-1 and Twang Banger; that combination is hard to beat... especially in a bright sounding guitar :)
