ADs aren't brutal amps to start with. However, they are very sweet sounding amps with that classic orange low-mid crunch. Coupled with the right pedals, they will sound good for heavier stuff. It just depends on your definition of brutal (sorry brvoootaa44llz555 for the majority of internet mentally impaired comedians). If you want scooped american tones, there are better amps out there for that but for that mid-heavy higher-gain tones (with the right pedals) you should be all set.
