What do you guys use for solo boost? Just curious

Re: What do you guys use for solo boost? Just curious

Not sure what the media director would do...sound guy would probably be freaking out thinking its too loud and pull everything out haha
If I were you I'd discuss it and figure out where to set it so you don't blow his head off when you hit the boost.

That would actually be funny to watch his reaction and then later after service tell him "Oh yeah did i mention I gave you and extra 15db of signal LOL":arms:

Keeley Katana at the end of the pedal chain.

That would be nice. They are expensive in my book though. I was thinking along the lines of the SD pickup booster or the TC spark mentioned earlier since they are within budget as well haha..

A Fulltone OCD if I want a little more grunt with more of a fluid tone, but nothing too over the top, or a MXR Wylde Overdrive if I want alot more growl with gobs of harmonics. On both I keep the gain all the way down, tone somewhere between 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock, and the output cranked.

To answer the OP, everything but the kitchen sink. Lately my flavor of the month is a BBB Bohemian Treble Boost. I have been having a ball with this thing. I have to learn some Sabbath this week, I can't wait to dial in a good Tony tone with it.

Somebody should make a piece of gear called the Sink just for the pun.

I've been using the boost on the gain channel of my Tubemeister 18 head. Either that, or I dial in a crunch and goose it with a pedal.

You know, it really depends on which tone I'm looking for which boost I hit...

I usually have two boosts in the chain. One for clean or minimal OD, the second for moderate crunch. I have and use a variety depending on the alignment of the stars.:laugh2: Here are the ones I use most:
Clean to Min. OD:
MXR m-133
Fulltone Fat Boost FB-3
JOYO Sweet Baby
Boss GE-7 in-the-loop
Moderate Crunch:
Boss FBM-1
Wampler 57 Tweed
TS-9
For Both:
Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic

Re: What do you guys use for solo boost? Just curious

Depends on my mood and my amp. Sometimes I use a clean boost like an MXR Micro amp style. Sometimes I like a little dirt added, so I'll use something like the Xotic AC Booster or a TS with volume up and gain down. Occasionally I'll want more drive rather than more volume, at which point I just use another OD pedal set to a normal OD sound and stack them. And finally, if I have the right amp, I like to play rhythm with the volume knob on about 5-7, then roll it up to 10 for soloing.
