I second that. I'm have my eye on the H&K Tubemeister 18 as well. I've watched some of the Premier Guitar demos at Musikmesse 2011....I like the features hopefully its sounds as good as it looks!!

Well, since seeing a thread about the Blackstar HT-40 the other day, I pulled the trigger on one from CL. It's all right. Pretty versatile, does a lot of things well, but nothing special. I'm looking more for something that does one or two things special. It is quicker to find a tone on the Blackstar compared to the Shiva, but none of the tones from the Blackstar measure up to the Shiva. Of course, the Shiva is $1500 more, so there ya go. I posted it back for sale on CL, and the search continues...

I can't really saw it does the Mesa thing too well- it can sound similar to the Mark IV's and Mark V's I tried- but it doesn't do the Dual Rec Crunch that my Carvin V3 does- which IMO is since it's only 5 watts.

Just to resurrect this thread a bit since I added a BBE Sonic Maximizer and MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop.....

With the MXR 10 band EQ, and the suggested metal setting in the MXR manual, it nails early metallica- Ride the Lightening, Master of Puppets, and And Justice for All. I know, old metal, but for a 5 watt amp for the home, through a 2x12 with a Vin30 and GT-75, the tone is unbelievable. The EQ really opens the amp up

I have one of the older HT-5 combo. since i got it it becomes my practice amp, and i just forget about two Cubes that i already own. the HT-5 sounds so much better. when i was buying the 1x12 external cab i read the posts before, how the 1x12 speaker is so much better than stock 1x10. at first i didn't really notice the change, but now, after half year, hell yeah, the sound is so much opened, not boxy like it is with 1x10. and it has more bass response, so i can turn bass knob back. the sound overall is cool and powerful, but i have some problems with unwanted noise at high gain levels...... first at all i was only boosting it with bad monkey, and use boss ns-2. then i put the Boss GE-7 EQ in the loop, it's much quieter,but not that perfect. right now i am getting the real sepultura levels of sounds, with Distorion pickup on bridge. but somehow i wanna try MXR EQ and some EMG-s on other guitar, because i am tired of using that much noise gate. and i was dissapointed when i read that's not all tube amp, but the sound is the factor and i love that amp. i am thinking of getting HT-20 Head, or HT-40 Combo in the future for larger venues that home. i think in the range of 5 watters it's a helluva good small amp !
