I've been seeking out these japanese lawsuit era strat and tele fernandes. I've been wanting a maple necked strat for a while but I don't want to spend very much money at all. I have a fernandes tele that has a serial number and made in japan on the back plate and headstock, I really like this guitar, it needs to be re-setup but its got that feeling of quality when you play it, and for the price of a squire I couldn't resist. What do you guys think about these lawsuit era japanese fernandes. Any sites that can eduacate me on their history and what to look for in a good one?

Japan made Fernandes/Burny, Orville, Fender Japan, Epiphone,Greco, Ibanez, Yamaha and others are all made , or were made, at the Fuji Gen Gakki factory.

I personally feel the Japan guitars are real nice quality axes.
Many on par with the guitars they replicate.

Okay, everybody ... lets not confuse this ... I have an S. at the end of my name ... Not the same person ... :laugh2:

I've got an alder/maple/maple strat ... Very nice workmanship (except for that damned truss rod under the pickguard at the heel) ... The vibrato bridge inertia block has some internal burrs that could have been drilled out a bit better, and the frets seem a bit smaller than medium, the fingerboard sports a 10" radius (well that's what it seems to be) ... very nice overall.
Internal routing is very clean and finished off looking. Hardware seems descent, that probably could have been a bit better ... but hey, great guitar.
