what do you think about this one ? :D

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

If it's what you like then go for it. It's not something I would buy as I'm more into Les Pauls and Gibsons in general. However, if it's your thing then have at it.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

Yeah, buy what you like not what others like becuase in the end..... we arn't playing or paying it.....

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

i think it looks stupid and the specs don't make me think it would sound very good.

give it a couple years and most of the teenagers that buy these guitars now will be selling them for rent / diaper / meth money and you can score one for cheap. Pretty sure that's how that guy scored his $25 Warlock in that other thread...

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

It's about time they came out with a neck-through King V in the Pro Series. I've got a Pro Series Dinky and Soloist, and they're great. I haven't tried the FRT-O2000; that's the Korean-built OEM version, isn't it?

Yupp i think so

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

With all due respect, EP, do you think making it sound like a vintage Les Paul is one of their design goals?

no but i didn't say that's what it should sound like now did i?

i never understood the use of maple and alder for metal guitars. At my shop i have a few ESP M-II's that are alder / maple neckthru and they sound really bright and twangy unplugged. Compared to the Jackson Soloist we've got that's mahogany / mahogany neckthru there's no comparison...the mahogany is darker, warmer, more complex in the mids, sounds better under gain...

then they drop a JB in there...which okay that's the standard "metal" humbucker since the 80's but i just don't like it. The guitar is a recipe for a really bright, punchy, almost twangy instrument...which isn't the kind of tone i'd want out of a V that's been painted to look like it was made of scrap metal.

i'd bet you could get a better tone and similar price out of a used Gibson Faded V or something and using lower-output pickups that compliment the nature of the mahogany. It might not make you look like a heavy metal comic book superhero but that might also be a good thing.

of course all of this comes from me trying to get as heavy a tone as possible with as little tone coloration and processing from hi-gain amps and pedals and other things with gain knobs. For a dude who's plugging his guitar into a Metal Zone then a Line 6 Spider with every gain knob cranked up all the way then, no, the acoustic tone of the instrument won't matter.

Looks good the only thing i would check out is if the tremolo bar will foul the volume put and if you can live with if it does.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

I might change the jb if the guitar is too bright.....I was thinking about dimarzio X2n or bill lawrence

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

You'll poke your eye out!

Sorry, but somebody was going to say it, so why not me?

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

eh the X2N is really high output and really flat EQwise...probably just make a bright guitar sound brighter :\

the Custom Shop El Diablo in my Fender Jaguar sounds thick as fuh. That guitar is supposed to be really bright and twangy and it now sounds like an SG with the tone rolled down.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

haha when i play a JB or a Super Distortion i feel like i'm somebody that used to be in Megadeth or Dokken and that my jeans aren't tight enough and i wonder if there are any good spandex retailers for big-n-tall men like me around here?

of course Kurt Cobain used 'em too so i could make an equally stereotypical heroin / suicide joke here but i LIKE grunge music so **** you guys.

i mean for all intents and purposes this guitar is probably not a bad one. i think it looks kinda silly but that's sort of what rock-n-roll music is all about right?

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

Man don't listen to these Jackson haters!! Who cares what it looks like as long as you like it.

I'd say it kicks ass so go for it. I'm more of an Rhodes body style kinda guy, but the King V models are cool too. I have a SLSMG and a DK2T and I love them both.

The ONLY changes I would make to my DK2T would be neck-thru with an Ebony fretboard.

Next I plan on getting either an RR1 or maybe even a SL1 or SL2H Soloist.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

I think it's pretty rad,go with it if you like it. :headbang:
I thought that many metal guitars that are/were made with alder and maple because they sounds balanced and tight, and you always can add some bass from your amp (that's what EQs on your amp are for, right? :naughty:).
And you'll be safe if you're going to drop tuned very low (ie to low A) because those woods compensate really well for the lows.
If you're going to drop tuned with mahogany guitars which already had abundant low and low mids,it's a bit hard to balance the low if you're going to drop tune. You'll need very bright pickups like SD Full Shred,Jazz,Dimarzio Evo,Bill Lawrence L-500XL etc, except you're going to use EMG 81 that is. :D

But if you're just want that V to be in standard tuning or just drop D,there's always Duncan Custom,Distortion and Invader to balance that brightness in your guitar.

Sorry for the rambling though, because I see your avatar and Dimebag used many drop tuning in his playing so I guess I just give you some thought about it.

One thing to consider when you play a V,check if it has good balance between neck and body in standing position.
I was this close to buy my buddy's Jackson Rhoads V,and when I tried it in standing position I could never make it balance well,so I passed that chance. Too bad as it was very well built guitar :(

Enough for rambling, good luck with your search and keep us posted!! :)

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

^ my SG sounds way better than my Telecaster tuned to drop A# so i disagree with your whole theory on drop-tuning there buddy.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

Fine,it's good to be corrected though. :ok:
Maybe your SG is slimmer in thickness than your Tele buddy,so maybe it is the answer :D

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

I'd give you other suggestions since you're open to that, but I'd be easier if you tell us what you're after.

You'd be surprised how heavy and thick more "classic" looking guitars can sound.
Like Empty Pockets said, a Gibson Faded V with something like a Duncan Custom in the bridge would probably beat the **** out of that Jackson, soundwise.

Are you into Floyd Roses or you're just choosing a FR because it's what every metalhead out there uses?
I fell for that one, twice. Regret it, I just don't like them. Nothing wrong with fixed bridges for Metal or whatever style you play.

And also man... avoid the cheesy graphics. One day you'll look at it and think WHAT THE **** WAS I THINKING? Trust me, you will.

Re: what do you think about this one ? :D

Right now I need an old school thrash metal guitar, for heavy tone I got my esp Fx with blackouts on them ( it sound HUGE ) so i dont think i'll use it for downtuning. exept drop D ( not really downtuning) cause I love playing some lamb of god, as for the finish, theres other colors so ^^
Maybe ill try the seymour duncan custom

I think a prefere not having a floyd because i change string ALOT and i'll switch between 1/2 step down, drop D and standard
