Hi,
I have a Godin Icon with a 5-way super switch. It is an LP clone. 2 humbuckers. I am putting in a WLH set.
I am a big fan of bridge and middle sounds, not so much neck. So I am thinking of the following switching combinations:
1 - Bridge humbucker, standard configuration (coils in series)
2 - Bridge humbucker, both coils parallel
3 - Bridge (coils in series) and Neck (coils in parallel)
4 - Screw coil of bridge and slug coil of neck in parallel
5 - Neck humbucker, standard configuration (coils in series)
I'm doing the parallel coils of the bridge in 2 to get a silent twangy single coil sound. Please don't recommend me to split it, I do not accept hum, ever, for any reason.
I'm doing the unusual position 3 to have something different. I am concerned, however, that it will have too much neck and not enough bridge, like combining a high output bridge pup with a low output neck.
Position 4 lets me get something strat or tele without having to flip the magnet in one of the pickups.
What do you guys think of this plan?
Always appreciative of your guys' input.
