What do you think the most "fun" chord is?

Re: What do you think the most "fun" chord is?

x - - - - - - (high e string)
- - - - 5 -
- - - 4 - -
- - - - 5 -
- - - 4 - -
x - - - - - - (low E string)

This chord played in the position shown can be A9, C#m7b5, or Eb7#5b9. As a dominant 9th chord, it's good for sliding (up a tone).

Bearclaw is the sh1zz...

Re: What do you think the most "fun" chord is?

the sus2 has been quite exhausted by rampant over-use since the 90s IMO
even the open-position D one with the 6th and the open high E sounds contrived these days
shudder

Re: What do you think the most "fun" chord is?

Paul Kossoff style.

- - 3 - - - (high e string)
- - 3 - - -
(O)- - - - - -
- - - - 5 -
- - - - 5 -
- - 3 - - - (low E string)

Yes sir .... that one. To eliminate the stretch I usually kill the fat E with my thumb and then slide the whole mess down two frets for a sweet F2.

I play it using my thumb to play the 'G' on the low E string. And yes, it is a moveable chord shape, it will work in the 1st position as an Fadd9 as you mention, and also at the 5th position (A7 or Am7), 6th position (Bb6), 8th position (C major or minor), 10th position (Dsus), 11th position (Eb) and 12th position (Eminor).

I dig that "wrong" chord in the intro to Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

Most of my favourite chords are only possible to play in open tunings à la Joni Mitchell.

Re: What do you think the most "fun" chord is?

This may sound mundane beside all your augmented diminished H chords, but E (major or minor) at the 7th fret with open low E string. (Like this, but ignore their flawed instruction to skip/mute the low E. Rock-and-frickin-roll!

Taking that chord to the next level fun-wise just finger the A, D, & G strings as shown. Leave the other three open and let it ring!
