What does it take to put a Floyd Rose in a Les Paul?

Go with a Kahler. They make one that drops right in. You only need to worry about the locking nut.

Edit: It appears that model Kahler is no longer produced. Look into a Duesenberg Les Trem.

Hunt down an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro FX from a few years ago, or the "Nightfall" Les Paul which was an all mahogany body black Les Paul with a Floyd and EMGsthey both still come up for sale occasionally for reasonable prices and are good quality.

Floyd on a Les Paul? I'll tell you what it takes:

A complete lack of shame
Absolutely no sense of style and grace left in your soul
A disregard for humanity and all that is good in the world

Act right. Get a Kahler.

Now that we’ve opened this box of worms let’s get to the real question….. A Les Paul kit like below, can the neck angle be modified before the neck is glued in, and can the neck take a locking nut?

Sure it could
- Add a shim
- Shave the heel

Haha true, but Steve Hackett, Neil Schon, and Lerxst Lifeson are pretty good company! (Even Slash has an Appetite Les Paul with a Floyd on it that he likes but won't admit it.)

Kahlers are pretty cool too I must admit, they do that bouncy thing...they still need a Floyd Rose nut though:)

Speaking of Slash, when I saw him back in 2019 his best tones of the evening came from his Mockingbird(s). They cut through better and generally sounded more exciting than the Les Pauls.
