My amps sound best with no FX. I use them sparingly for when they're absolutely necessary.

Unless I'm doing heavy riffing, I almost always have a Univibe on to some degree.

For a couple years I always had a graphic EQ pedal on to shape my tone and boost gain a bit. That band fell apart and ever since I have been just amp 99% of the time. It was really good for the hard & heavy stuff though.

For the longest time I didn't have one...
My board is built around a loop master clean / dirty / channel switcher where I have separate loops for the clean and dirty channels of my Marshall Jubilees. I run the dirty side completely dry ~90% of the time, but my clean loop has an always-on Boss FRV-1 Fender Reverb. It isn't set super wet (mixer & dwell 9 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock) but I like having the little bit extra on a clean tone.

That’s a great reverb — one of the splashiest, sproingiest spring reverb emulations I’ve played through.

None, really. If I can imagine my sound using a certain pedal, I can imagine my sound without it. My pedal lineup is fluid, constantly changing, infinitely possible. Nothing is permanent.

Mine's a bit beat up, but I found it on Reverb for $70 before the market went crazy. Typical prices on the used market aren't worth it these days; why pay ~$180 for a FRV-1 when you can get a Strymon Flint for $250?

I just completed a solo guitar project where a looper was on and overdubbing the entire time, for a series of 15 minute pieces. The looper's feedback was at about 80% so stuff I played immediately started fading away, so as I played, the loop kept changing over time.

For my cleaner tone I play in one of my bands -I use a Greer Lightspeed compressor at the very front, and XOtic EP booster and the end -both always on.
For dirty tone for a different band -an Archer Klon into an MXR Modified OD Custom Badass always on.
