Hey guys, I'm going to try to attempt the unthinkable... a Les Paul and a Strat in one guitar.
Here's what I want to do:
pup config: H-S-H
electronics: 5-way, push-pull switch for splitting the humbuckers
shorthand writing: t = tapped, hb = humbucker, sc = single coil, pos = position
here's the combinations I'm looking for:
untapped: pos1 [neck hb], pos2 [neck hb, sc], pos3 [neck hb, bridge hb], pos4 [bridge hb, sc], pos5 [bridge hb]
coil tapped: pos1 [t neck hb], pos2 [t neck hb, sc], pos3 [sc, t neck hb, t bridge hb], pos4 [t bridge hb, sc], pos5 [t bridge hb]
Essenially, the untapped mode will be my "Les Paul +" configuration and tapped mode will essentially be a regular Strat configuration. I hate it when guitar companies make their guitars automatically coil tap.
I talked briefly about it to a friend of mine and he said something about a mega switch? Would all these positions work fine if I had the right electronics? I'm trying to avoid all the mini toggle switches as that gets sloppy and confusing looking.
I guess I'm looking for some kind of a 5 way switch that would have enough lugs to offer all these positions.
Anybody have any ideas? I know if this can be pulled off, I will have the ULTIMATE guitar (which of course will be revealed in due time with sound clips and appropriate photos
)
