What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

I use a '70 Fender Vibrolux Reverb w/ Celestion G10L-35s.... speakers courtesy of Terry :D

It's not an amp I use often, but when I'm doing some blues/funk/jazz/fusion stuff, I'll take it out and throw some pedals through it.

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

1968 Vibrolux Reverb.

Bought it in 1980 when I was 14 for $150. First amp I ever owned. Still have it. In case you can't tell, I'm a little sentimental about it. Could be sentimental over lesser things, I guess.

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

I did check the specs link, but the link he posted and the link firebird referenced clearly says 6v6.

Like I wrote this amp uses 6L6, because that is what it uses.

Please don't argue with knowledgeable poeple, just because of a web typo.

We all know that it uses a pair of 6l6s, I ust thought that it was funny. It's pretty obvious that who ever wrote that didn't know a thing about tube amps, but then again, why would they?

i'm using an all original 65 Deluxe Non-reverb.... oneday i wish to find a good Fender Concert amp....

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

I use a '66 Black Face Champ for practice. Sadly, my practice amp sounds better than my main amps! :smack:

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

I love Fender amps...there is a long list of the Fender amps I have owned but an even longer list of the ones I want!

Currently I have an amazing Silverface Twin Reverb that Bruce Collins has blackfaced as well as a few other choice mods/tweaks and it sounds amazing, my other "Fender" amp is Bruce Collins built for me from scratch...it's an EXACT clone of a 1951 5B4 V-Front Super/Dual Professional and it is simply an amazing amp.

Soujurn: Is Larry's Sport's Bar re-opened? And is Roger's Roger still playing downtown? He uses a Super Reverb and an Echoplex for his sound.

Stinger Blues Man

Fender (Twin Reverb I think) style head. Absolutely incredible sounding amp. I love it!

have you done anything to it? im assuming not since you say its all original. i modded the normal channel of my '66 dr and WOW is all i can say. the vibrato channel is still pretty much stock and sounds nice and fendery with reverb but the normal channel is fat and nasty and very usable now where before i didnt even have a tube in there. all i did was change a couple values and disconnect the tone circut

if yours is still bone stock i wouldnt mess with it since youll hurt the collector value

Re: What Fender Tube Amp do you use?

The 66 Blackface Champ is truly one of the best sounding tube amps ever made. You might want to check out a Super Reverb for live gigs.

Supers sound fabulous but are too dang loud for my kind of gigging. Anyone out there use one for gigs on a regular basis? Where are you setting your volume? I can't get mine past "3" without getting clocked over the head with an unopened Colt 45.
