I like good ol' fashioned rosewood. Ebony is nice too. I like 'em all, really. Different woods for different genres and playing styles. I haven't tried anything with pao ferro, or even recall hearing, either.

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

We voted for the same thing. I don't have much experience with Ebony, but I have always liked it. I don't like maple much, and I've never even heard of Pao Ferro.

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

I like the look and feel of rosewood. But on strats and teles maple looks best

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

Maple definitely looks better on Strats and Teles, but I don't like the way it sounds. Too hard for me I guess.

I'm a Rosewood man, but Pao Ferro, is beckoning, and I'd love to try out Ziricote!

MAPLE!! My favourite! My strat has rosewood, and though it is nice and look better on certain colour schemes, I love the feel and bright snappy tone Maple offers. Plus I LOVE the look of worn maple necks!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice IMO! Ebony is a good substitute for Maple if you want a dark fretboard.

My Tele neck is all maple!! (except the skunk stripe)

I like Maple and Rosewood, Rosewood on Gibsons and the like, and usually Maple on Fenders and the like. Sometimes not though. But for the most part, Maple on Fenders and Rosewood on Gibsons.

Hard to tell. My favorite is maple on my 9.5" radius Lite Ash, due to how hard it is to touch, but I also like rosewood on my Showmaster with XJ frets. Also, I prefer ebony for a fingerboard wood for violas, so I'd like to try that in a guitar some day.

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

I voted rosewood but I REALLY want to play a steel necked guitar with a steel fretboard.

Maple forever...

I like rosewood just great too, all my axes have it and they're all fine. Ebony is nice too but cracking, meh...maple just feels the best out of all of them.

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

I voted for both maple and rosewood. It depends on the situation, although I'm starting to lean more toward maple these days.

Indian Rosewood is cool. Brazilian Rosewood is very nice. Bois de Rose is really cool.

Re: What fretboard wood are you partial to?

Typically I'll go with rosewood. Though I've got a few axes with ebony boards. I like maple on strats and teles though.

Maple or ebony for me. Which depends on the guitar.

I dislike rosewood, usually looks cheap and it doesn't have the same bloom/snap.
