What full size bridge in a Strat 250k HSS?

Hi guys, recently put a Lil 59 neck, Duckbucker middle in my HSS Strat and wanted to know the best 250k full-size Humbucker for the bridge would be suggested? I’ve seen the Pearly Gate and Pearly Gate Plus has been used, but what would you do if your neck and middle were the ones I’ve mentioned. Really want to keep it all at 250k. Thanks!

I would not focus too much on the pot value. Any pickup will work. 250K pots will be warmer and slightly darker than 500K pots, for me this is a desired tone. It can also be a benefit with pickups that are more on the bright side. I think what is most important is figuring out what kind of tone you are looking for and dialing it in from there.

What styles of music do you play? Are there artists that you would like to sound like or close to sounding like?

Thanks! In this guitar I’m looking for anything that will balance best with the Lil 59 neck and Duckbucker middle. In another Strat I have the Loaded Lil 59, Duck, JBJr. But instead of
doing the full-size JB, what would be the next best offer. Style is a little bit of everything. Just want the balance to be best or maybe what would work cool with the Duckbucker and Full Size in 2nd position.

big jb is great if you want a big thick tone. if you want something more paf like, the pg is a great option

I was thinking Pearly Gates also. I had one in my Strat with 250K pots and it sounded fantastic.

Other than what’s been mentioned, the Screamin Demon works great with 250k pots. Another option is to swap the volume for 500k but leave the tone controls 250k. That’s what I like with HSS. I have a Classic Stack Plus in the neck and middle.

Your setup is more HSH with the Lil ‘59 in the neck. That’s a humbucker in single-coil format. Not much single-coil in its sound at all.

Remember that a Duckbucker is a pretty low output pickup (and it sounds great), so pretty much any humbucker will overpower it. I'd tend to go for more of a vintage output humbucker in this case, like a PG or Whole Lotta Humbucker.

Just to add, my Player HSS has SSL-1 single coils and a 59/Custom Hybrid humbucker.

I wired it so that the humbucker auto coil splits in P2.

Consider the DiMarzio PAF Pro as well. I love that pickup in the bridge position. In the neck, not so much, LOL.

Jeremy just mentioned an A3 Custom in another thread. Sounds like it might work here.

The big thing with any HSS guitar is the difference between the pickup volume differences and the tone of the humbucker. Which is more important? A weaker, brighter bridge pickup would balance better with singles and 250k pots. A louder humbucker might not balance well with the singles, but give the humbucking sound you like. The trick is to decide what is more important.
