What gear do you write music on?

We all want amazing live rigs and recording rigs, but what do you end up writing most of you music on. ex, the acoustic that is always laying around...or my entire setup.

What I really hate about my personal guitar tastes is that, if I don't have my ideal sound or my whole setup and a comfortable guitar, I don't feel like playing as much....and when something breaks or one guitar isn't working right, I almost get depressed....I wish I could have the same drive with a $100 acoustic as I do with my whole rig....sorry just a side note....it is something I need to work on....(I need to stop wanting gear)

I don't write on guitar because I write better with bass first, I use a computer to sequence bass lines.

When im just sitting around the house, which is when i write most, i just grab my favorite electric guitar and just mess around with it unplugged. If it sounds good without even being plugged in then it will be that much better through your rig.

i split my writing 50% between my strat and my acoustic.

Most of my stuff is from an acoustic.

But on your other topic I know exactly what you mean. My mood is directly related to how I think I sound at the band practice before that day. If I think I sounded like crap on a song, It'll haunt me until the next band practice.

When Im playing my tele into my fender I get way too into the tone, I end up playing the same old riffs. On an acoustic guitar my energies are more focused towards writing than creating a sound.

I write most of my stuff on a clean (or unplugged) electric . . . it's just what I'm most comfortable with.

I turn down my amp... Then if I need to record I just turn it up if I need a cleaner sound for what I'm doing.

one pickup, one tone, one volume. you concentrate a lot more on your phrasing and note choices!

True, i am the same way....but my acoustic broke (urgg) and I am waiting for the the acoustic I ordered...but it still has to be a nice acoustic....If it is a sucky acoustic...then I don't like to play it.

Very little acoustic.

I usually just plug into my little Vox DA5 amp and fiddle around until something good comes up.

That's what I like about acoustics... you don't have to worry about your tone other than choosing the right strings, grabbing, and just playing.
