It looks Real EXPENSIVE (like ALL Gibsons) . . . but hell, i LIKE it !

SECOND question :

I had a conversation with a fellow guitar player when we saw this clip.
He says all the above lead tones are very smooth sounding.
He say he prefers a gritty lead tone.

Can anyone explain to me / show me a GRITTY lead tone please !

Re: What Gibson is this ?

The Johnny A. model, ...though I see 4 Gibsons in just the thumbnail image so I'm assuming which one you are asking about.

Re: What Gibson is this ?

If you knew who was playing it you could have answered your own question!

+1 to all the above

Re: What Gibson is this ?

What they said, Johnny A sig. My favorite Gibson actually, too bad I'll never in my life be able to afford one.

Re: What Gibson is this ?

Watching all those star guitarists kinda stand around and look busy over TGP garage blues felt awkward

Re: What Gibson is this ?

Johnny A hand picked the first 6 off the line 001 -006. He has the first 3, his mother got 004, my boss ended up with 006. I have played the guitar it is simply amazing.

Re: What Gibson is this ?

There was a Standard version of the Johnny A a few years ago that was actually reasonably affordable (by Gibson standards, so...) but iirc, it had some significant construction differences over the CS model.

Re: What Gibson is this ?

Not a big fan of that GT model, but man, in black . . . .SEXY as all bloody hell !

Re: What Gibson is this ?

The single best live guitar sound I've ever heard was from a guy playing a Johnny A. Really made me GAS for one, hard.

Re: What Gibson is this ?

Others said the model name, but I don't think anyone has mentioned that it is based on the Barney Kessel signature model of the '60's. It's smaller, but the basic shape is from the Kessel model. One version of the Trini Lopez signature shared the same body shape (though the headstock was 6-in-line, not open book).

Similarly, the Dave Grohl signature Gibson is based on the 335-style Trini Lopez signature model (though much more closely than the Johnny A. is based on the Barney Kessel).

Re: What Gibson is this ?

Johnny A is without a doubt the best looking Gibson ever produced, IMO. So classy. Wish they had done a custom version with an ebony board and all that.
