That is a shame, but bonafide Invaders show up in the Trading Post from time to time. With a little patience, you can score the real deal for not much more moola.
The Detonator was not an Invader clone, despite the looks. I've actually been told it was closer to the Distortion, but with big 1/4" allen bolts.
That's interesting. I read somewhere the Invader was just a Distortion with Allen bolts.
I'm curious about these too- were the Performer series similar to the pickups now called Duncan Designed, or were they the same, or something completely different?

Wasn't the Scorcher and Performer simply Duncan Designed pups branded exclusively for MF?

The Invader has a similar wind, but uses a double ceramic magnet with two ceramic spacer magnets, instead of the single double thick ceramic like the Distortion. That's interesting. I read somewhere the Invader was just a Distortion with Allen bolts.
The imported "Detonator" combines the Duncan Designed "HB-103" wind with Invader style pole pieces.
Cool. Does this actually affect the sound, or is it just cosmetic? And if so, I could convert my HB-103 to a Detonator by simply changing the pole pieces?
And I'm not sure where to get those. I believe they need to be a certain material to be effective. In other words, I can't just go to Ace hardware and buy some bolts.
