What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

My point is that there are standard production guitars out there with ebony boards. I doubt that PRS would bail on ebony simply because they figured "it's too hard for us to do".

I never said the contrary, just clearing up a misunderstanding, as profiling by machine and fretting by machine are 2 very different things in this case, and therefore one cannot be used to discredit the other ;)

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

you must be in an argumentive mood today, between dissing Gibson and PRS, but I won't bite on this one, however I'd don't think you should be bashing brand names just for the sake of it. lot's of folks would rather have a Gibson or PRS than an Ibanez- myself included, as I own both.
just my .02

And the PRS Bash thread is in the lead....

GO SEABISCUIT GO!

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

They look all the same. If they were hand made and used better parts I'd buy them

They are as handmade as anything and they use damn good parts.

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

At no point did I say PRS were bad guitars. I love playing them in shops and think they are great to play.

But they are so damn expensive.

Other guy, the carving on the private stock done by hand is what I meant by SEMI hand made

They are no more expensive than Gibson, Hamer and on and on. This argument is tiring.

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Yup, hopefully this flushes the Gibson/PRS/Hamer, etc bashing from everyone's systems and we won't have to hear about Brand X's poor QC, finish, tone, etc from someone who has never owned a Brand X, let alone play one for more then three minutes in a Guitar Center.

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Ok, first, let's get the formalities out of the way.

PRS r tEh suckZ!!!!!

Right, now we're past that... I find the CE 22+24 to be a nice, fatter sounding alternative to a high end superstrat type, while still having a good high performance tremolo and a decent amount of cut thanks to the maple bolt on neck.

But of course I'm lying, and am in no way trying to say these guitars are any good!!!!11 Every n00b knows the quality of a guitar is totally linked to the quality of band that they have on their endorsee list, and PRS had CREED! :laugh2:

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Seriously, why are PRS guitars so expensive? Aside from the expensive poly finish, rediculously hard to find indian rosewood fretboards etc, where does the money actually go? I don't see why a PRS here costs 3 times as much as a Gibson Les Paul Standard; and Gibsons are overpriced here.

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

lol when the Flying V came out along with the Explorer etc they were considered flops

The LP was discontinued due to lackluster sales.

So someone can't find a use for a well-contructed guitar that stays in tune and plays fast - well hopefully they will go out of style so I can buy one cheap.

As a kid, I got my vintage Les Paul for $150 back when they were UN-cool in the early 90s. Anyone wanna sell me a McCarty for $99?

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Electric Guitars Are Supposed To Be Cheap
That Is The Whole Point
If You Have A Guitar With A Triple Clear Coated Glowing Dyed Tiger Eye Emerald Finish Over Aaa Zebrawood Veneer You Are Being A Wanker And Missing The Whole Point

They Are Supposed To Be Cheap Because They Are Built To Rock. They Should Look Like Tools For Rocking.

Re: What heck are PRS guitars good for anyway?

Jeff, your parodies today are proof that sarcasm is in fact able to be conveyed in this media (hey, I got it, Zerb got it, among others). Unfortunately, sarcasm, as it seems, is a lost art.

And I think think the PRS bash thread schooled the other bash threads. That wasn't even a contest. Next time some retard starts spouting off at the mouth about the inferiority of Gibsons, link to this thread. It's proof there's more dissent towards PRS!
