Like the title says, It's even better if its 2 channel so the first channel have a lot of headroom and the second channel sweet creamy blues tone.

so you want a smaller combo with a clean channel and a dirty channel that have tweed voicings?

the thing about tweed amps is the simplicity and purity of tone. are you talking low power or high power twin? they sound pretty different even not considering the volume difference. different preamp, PI and power section. the only thing in common is two 12" speakers

tweed my friend tweed not the blackface.. I want to have that clipping sound so less wattage is what I am after. I'd 'love' to have 2 channels to have a usable volume clean and the break up that I am using it for. But if there's an amp smaller in size and wattage that sounds similar to the twin I'll gladly take it. I can always roll back the vol of the pickup anyway.

there is only one type of bf twin, 85w. there are two types of tweed twin. the '55-57 5E8 series 40-50w and the '58-60 5E8 series 80-100w

i have a 5e3 and it really doesnt sound much like either tweed twin. too saggy and compressed, not tight enough on the bottom, treble isnt bright or clear enough and not fast enough response. putting a 5v4 recto tube in there does help all those things though

its a great amp though and gets wonderful fat overdriven tones at a reasonable volume.

Oh yea.. I don't know about that before.. I think I want the high wattage one. Something that is easy to find now in local guitar stores is better. I mean it's hard to find old amps in my area

I think what you're looking for is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III or Hot Rod Deville III 212.

They come in several different tolex themes, but the tweed ones will have the look you're probably wanting.

The new 'III' versions have improved gain channels, better speakers, and a few other tweaks that set it apart from past versions.

From a purist standpoint, no they aren't vintage tweed circuits, but part of the sound of those amps is the cabinetry which they do have. Also, it's very likely that these are what you're really after, judging by what you wrote.

Re: What in your opinion a smaller but similar sounding to a tweed twin amp

For the Tweed cleans I would look at one of the Zinky designs. Single channel the Supros for 2 channels a Zinky Velvet.
I own a 25 watt Velvet and it can go from a more pristine clean to that saggy simi clean by just using the gain on the clean and turning the master down. The crunch is super expressive and creamy!
I have owned a couple Hot Rod and blues deluxes over the years and they sound decent but not at all like a real Tweed. The build quality on both the Hot Rod and the Blues Deluxe is is really shoddy and after looking internally at the Blues deluxe I had I dumped it ASAP!
Both are REALLY cheaply made and nothing like the build quality of a Deluxe RI or something like a SS or Zinky.

Which tweed amp do you want to emulate? Most of the tweed amps were moderately sized and lowish in wattage in the forst place.

Re: What in your opinion a smaller but similar sounding to a tweed twin amp

There are quite a few tweed Twinbs...amps ranging from 20ish watts all the way up to 80+

Which tweed Twin sound do you want and how much smaller does it need to be??

Re: What in your opinion a smaller but similar sounding to a tweed twin amp

I think a clean amp and the Wampler Tweed '57 in front can do the trick.

I want an amp that sounds vintage but not a totally break up vintage supro sound with low wattage.. I dont really care for how it look. I mean, it's an amp you dont look at it. You hear it. I think there's no such thing so I ask about it here. That pedal don't even sound near to what tweed is in my mind. I've recently encounter a new Fender amp. It's called excelsior. Anyone has any experience with it?

The Excelsior is a very low wattage amp with lots or breakup like a Supro...

The lower in wattage you go the nastier and more crunchy it's going to be.

The sound you are talking about is mild break up and any amp will do it but you need to find an amp that it the right amount of power...if the amp is too small it's be very crunchy if the amp is to big you'll have a hard time getting it to the point where it's starting to break up.

Or... a Tweed!

The Excelsior sounds something in between a tweed and a blackface, being none of those two.
Maybe the sound that the OP has in his mind has been called tweed but it better corresponds to a blackface's sound?.

I keep pushing the Zinky stuff for a reason man. Bruce ran the fender CS for a few years and I have been a fan for a long while. My 25 watt velvet can cover from nice Fender style cleans to that nasty Tweed break up on the clean side depending on how i set it up and can jump to out right screaming metal on the other side to light bluesy break up.
I currently own Several different amps and have owned over the years just about anything you can name. My Zinky is now my #1 go to gig rig and that should say something.

Here is a live clip with me playing my PRS Custom 24 through my Velvet
