Yes, the Black Winter should get you pretty close
The Black Winter is indeed close to the Black Winter! :lmao:Yes, the Black Winter should get you pretty close
I guess we hear things differently. To me, the BW is anything but neutral. At least not the BW-B. It has an even fiercer upper-mid focus than the JB in every guitar I've had it in. Each to his own.The Black Winter sounds very neutral. I can't think of another Duncan pickup that has that quality. Maybe the Custom, but then it's still sorf of PAFish. I don't think saying the BW and DD are similar is very accurate.
What are you after? A black winter thats not a black winter? Why not just play the black winter? Bare Knuckle juggernauts are in the same sonic neighborhood but definitely arent the same
Thanks for the responses.
So, if the Distortion, Custom and possibly JB are the only things even remotely close in the SD line, is there anything from another pup maker that comes close?
Oh. I get what you're saying now. Yes, the Black Winter is very clean, and precise, and it can be made to sound either old school or modern, and it does get along well with very different high-gain amp voicings. I agree.Ya I don't mean tame. Like how the Phat Cat is colored Gibsony, the strat is wet and statty, the JB has a tele country thing to it. The Black Winter doesn't sound tilted any preexisting direction in tone. It's nice and stark for metal.
