+1 dark and muddy.
I don't get them.

Fact is, Les pauls are the heaviest and "biggest sounding" guitars out there./QUOTE]
You must have never played an aluminum necked...
Dark and muddy, in the best way. Love 'em. Couldn't do without mine now. They are like the sledgehammer of the guitar world. Maybe not the most advanced, precision tool for the job, but they always get your point across.

Ibanez pickups are beyond horrible, that might be part of the reason why everyone said your guitar was clearer with the LP.
Because Les Pauls are the most perfect guitar (I didn't say they are perfect, I said most perfect). They are heavy, but that's just because they are better. LPs can do any kind of music (Strats are close though, regrettably, but they're not as pretty).
Although I like Les Pauls alot...
I will much rather use a Strat for metal than trying to use a Les Paul for surf.
Strat is just a versatile guitar, sure a Les Paul is too but still its much easier getting a strat heavier than getting a Les Paul brighter (with stock pickups).
Well if you have your LP wired for splits, you might get surfy tone, but yeah, I'd rather use a Strat for metal than a LP for surf.
Yeah sure you can go in 600 different directions witth rewiring etc.
What I meant was when both are stock
Les Pauls are great guitars... They just need to be used for the right genre![]()
Because Les knew what he was doing when he designed it:banana:
