yeah JB it dude, DD's are better for fast, really distorted, and/or in-your face solos.

Out of those 2 i would say JB,but overall for solo`s i find the Screamin Demon to be the best!!!!

That's how I would describe the DD.

I think either pickup will work well for what you want. Just don't be turned off by the Distortion's name. IT is more versatile than a lot of people think.

JB, I prefer Alnico 5 for anything. Much more 'organic' and smooth sounding.
