WHAT is the correct Tele Stack bridge screw?

Got a NOS STK-3b ... supplied screws drop out when I try to adjust height relative to strings!

There's one at 3/4" thread length but two at 5/8". I think they're #6-32.

Should all three be 3/4"? HALP I have an April Wine covers gig

right, all three should be the same length. it doesnt really matter as long as they work fine. fastenal is where i go for most of my screw needs since they have everything

^ +1.

You could just go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy longer ones.

You can order the correct screws from Amazon and have en in a couple of days. I went the Lowes route and all they had were zinc coated screws that look like crap.

yep. we used to have an old school hardware store that had damn near everything but thats gone, so now i use fastenal. i can walk in with a screw in my hand and they will figure out what it is and what i need. im sure amazon has everything as long as you know exactly what you want

Duncan supplies #6-32 x 3/4" with stacked Tele bridge pickups, but that leaves two threads to spare or even just one. Doing some measuring, I found 13/16" to be the length needed, but good luck finding that size!

I found an aircraft parts vendor which carries stainless steel #6-32 x 7/8" and sells them in singles. (Try saying it fast.) When placed in the mount holes, 7/8" JUST fits in the pickup rout. Maybe 1/32" from the 'floor'.

Anyway, this solved the issue with my bridge pickup falling off its mount screws. It's a PITA to get that fat wire to behave in that tiny space, though.

Thanks for reporting back. This is helpful.

I had a prior owner's Hot Rails swapped out for the Stack. This meant longer screws needed. Yet shop guy made do with 5/8" screws, too short, then said "it's trouble to lower the pickup."

This repair tech does charge me fairly ... but he also uses 'make-do' rather than fix the problem. He tends to complete the job with problems rather than call and say "you need this to fix the problem."

Not sure why that is, but can't really tell a guy his method needs a re-look.

You can always buy a screw that's too long, then cut it size with a Dremel (easy) or a hacksaw (PITA). Then use a fine file to neaten up the sharp edges. It's a little trouble. But when you're talking about a guitar that may have run hundreds, it's worth the effort.

I just paid the postage, really, to get proper screws. Here in two days. I think they were 50c each. Always best to have the real thing for a Tele copper plate ...
