And what will I have to sacrifice to play in a lower tuning. I'm looking for c standards and drop b, but I'd like drop b flat

They will handle C standard or drop A# just fine. With proper string gauges, amp EQ and a proper guitar set-up you won't have to sacrifice much.. It depends on your scale length and how much tension you like. For C# standard and drop B, I use 54-12 heavy core strings (playing an SG). So you'll probably need 56-13 or heavier on your low strings

You'll have problems finding the right set of strings and having to make a custom nut and bridge saddles to host'em. The p'ups are the least of your concerns here.

They'll invent Drop Z at some point lol! They just keep getting lower and lower..

I play in Open B, Black Winters did just fine.

I use necks with Floyd Rose nuts, I can go pretty thick on the strings without messing with slots. :D

The Black Winters will handle them. Add a subwoofer to your amp and attract humpback whales!
