Re: What is the Mount Rushmore of electric guitars?
+1 ^^ Pretty much. As much as I wanted to throw in some double cut guitars or my favorite guitar; Gibson CS 356s, they're aren't as iconic. I also have personal year preferences, but that's not what you usually think of when you hear the guitar name.
Speaking of which, if we must state years;
Iconic
Les Paul ('59)
Tele ('52)
Strat ('62)
335 ('64)
Or
My preference
Les Paul ('52-53, '68-'69, any historic year)
Tele (Broadcaster '50 [?])
Strat ('62 or '68-69)
335 ('65-'69)

That is what makes it difficult. Any of us can rattle off 10-20 awesome guitars. Four guitars force you to make hard choices. I really wanted to add an Ibanez but it didn't make the cut.
