What is the Mount Rushmore of guitar amps?

Re: What is the Mount Rushmore of guitar amps?

Bruce Zinkys best creation and simply the best.

Prosonic head
And then a plethora of other amps.

Re: What is the Mount Rushmore of guitar amps?

Prosonic was easily the best sounding amp I have ever heard
Glad there is another fan here.
They are built like a tank. I've hauled it in a trailer in 40 below winters 40 degree summers and never had a problem.
It lives a little easier life now days.

I've been looking half hearted for another. Tough to come by and seem expensive.

Re: What is the Mount Rushmore of guitar amps?

With the Rockman headphone amps, I'd agree with you. They are kind of one trick ponies. The Rockmodules and the XPR gear are completely flexible and can have their sound shaped any way you need it.

I was going to say something similar.
Obviously we all know the rockman Boston sound but I had no idea how widely used by a ton of guitar players throughout the 80’s the rockman was. (See the Rockman tone in 2017 thread.)
And in many cases i wouldn’t have necessarily immediately pegged the tone as Rockman.

Re: What is the Mount Rushmore of guitar amps?

True, but if you consider the 90's (the 10 years later) featured no guitar solos and one-finger barre chords/cowboy chords with buzzy-bee distortion in many songs... (which has been profoundly ridiculed amongst more skilled and tone-savvy guitarist circles) :naughty:

Steve Morse and EJ excluded of course

Yup...maybe it’s just me being a product of the 80’s but I never really liked the 90’s tones.
Of course there are still plenty of 90’s tones I do like (Cantrell...IMO one of the best all around guitar tones EVER) but generally speaking.

Yes, I really, really, really want one
I don't need it.
But did I mention, I really, really, really want one:)

The one I played 20 years ago, made everything sound great

PRS McCarty
Fender American Tele
Squire strat

Just every thing I plugged in was musical

I couldn't agree more. I tend to play aggressive through it most of the time, which it does extremely well. However on those cold, snowy, blowy, dark winter days you can dial it back and play mild mannered and tame.Which it also does extremely well.
Those that have them are usually unwilling to part with them.
