What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

So I saw this highschool age looking kid playing on the street today. He was actually pretty good, but the one thing that drew my attention was his guitar. It was matte black with an almost neon green tortoise shell pickguard. It had a master and a tone control with a sticker over where the volume control use to be as well as a Ford sticker over where the middle pickup use to be. It's funny how people's brains work that we can subconsciously judge someone's playing ability purely based on how their equipment looks. Does anyone else have any examples of ugly guitars? I don't mean body shape or anything, mostly colors and modifications.

Re: What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

The guy most likely moved the volume knob and took out the tone control. As for the pickguard, a black guitar with neon green isn't that uncommon.

Ugliest guitar though, would have to be something Zakk Wylde related.

Re: What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

I've seen black with neon green before. But this was a smooth matte black finish combined with the glossiest green I've ever seen. And the sticker covering the empty hole just looked cheap and conspicuous.

Re: What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

'Relic' is probably my least favorite finish. After that, logos/symbols of most sorts... Especially most commercial/jingoistic ones, or cheap beer brands, or prescription medication etc.

I used to dislike wood-grain, but it's practical to be able to see how the guitar was constructed; and now I appreciate it in a tacky, seventies way. If I narrow it down to a color, my least favorites are very dark red, very dark green, or anything that you can buy a Toyota Camry to match.

Either some ricey looking/pokemon modded Ibanez or the Zakk Wylde guitars, which not even a mother moose could love. :guilty:

Re: What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

to be honest, the one finish I despise is Tobacco Sunburst. So many awesome Les Paul Bursts that a guitar could be finished in, honey, iced tea, lemon, cherry even some of the newer ones like desert... but that dark brown just doesn't do it for me.

In general, any poorly done finish is nasty to me, but pick a color combo and let XSSIVE work with it, and i bet he could make it look sweet.

Once again, not a totally uncommon combination. The sticker on the pickguard could serve two functions. It could help cut down on feedback and it would cover up the hole. Even if the middle pickup is disconnected from the rest of the circuit, it's still a magnet and keeping it in the guitar could lead to sustain loss because more magnetic forces are pulling on that string. So by taking it out of the guitar you lose that issue, but you're introduced with the new issue of an unsightly hole in the pickguard and a surce of feedback. The sticker might look cheap, but it's better to have that there than to not have it.

Re: What is the worst color scheme you have ever seen on a guitar?

The only person who could rock decals on a guitar was SRV, other than him I think they are tacky. I also can't stand signatures of any smaller time artists.

It isn't often that I burst out laughing when I read something online, but here I did! Is this really a thing?

Wouldn't alarm me. Often created as corporate give-aways or wall-hangers, I've seen strange ones. No better way to advertise pads.

They're limiting. Imagine trying to play a Hooters with this one:

...Turns out there's actually a lot of unintentional humor on this website; except for this one. It's for Alzheimers awareness:

Why is that? A lot of times it's a business decision between the artist and the company. And a lot of those smaller time artists aren't making the huge amounts of money that big name players are making so they need a way to supplement that income. If they make it through ESP telling them to push a signature model then good for them.

I read/interpreted more along the lines of an unknown guitarist from a band that played two shows scribbling on the front of someone's Squier. Or Ralph Macchio.

Ok, never mind... you're right. Anything like that is horrible. :)

This thread is WORTHLESS without pics.

And Wing House is NOT Hooters! and neither have bands. I'd love to have Winghouse guitar! That would be awesome!!!!

I don't like most graphic finishes...album covers (unless it is your album) or advertising is the worst. I am not a sticker fan either, even with SRV (but I am not an SRV fan).
