Go check this out on Reverb. Was there a change of some sort? What is different?

Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive Pedal
This is a new, old-stock pedal, Rev 000, original version.

Whether you’re looking to give your sound a bit of a boost or trying to find harmonically rich heavy gain with warm tube character, the 805 overdrive provides the versatility needed for any type of music – blues, country, rock, metal, and everything in between.

If so, the seller is asking less than a new 805. In my opinion, no gimmick. I would go for the one on Reverb. Of course personally, I do not need an 805. I still have a Diamondhead, from Christmas 2019, I need to try out. Have I ever mentioned I'm not a big pedal user? Excluding my SD Pickup Booster and Boss GE-7. I tend to use a different amplifier instead of adding pedals.

The 805 remains a remarkable pedal, and certainly my preferred TS-alike. The active tone knobs and extended gain range make it better for any instance you would use a TS-type pedal.

Knobs? Seriously? That's it???

And yes - the 805 is an impressively flexible pedal.

If only they made the pedal in a better color...preferably not a surf color theme. They would sell a lot more if they did.

I don't think the color has much to do with it. SD pedals are overlooked no matter what color they are.

Perhaps, but it certainly isn't visually inspiring.
I know, pedals are for listening, not looking at, but they are also impulse purchase items and I think looks count for a lot. I have bought (and sold) all three of the MXR "Badass" pedals and all three times it was the combo of the silly/funny name (which I took to be self-consciously ironic), the sparkly paint, and the price that convinced me to hit the "buy now" button. If this pedal looked better, was priced lower, or had a catchy name I might have bought one by now. Two out of those three would make it much more likely. If all three, I'd definitely have one.

I agree the pedal is overlooked and deserves far more credit than it gets. It is a wonderful pedal, far better than many in its class. That being said, everybody I know has mentioned their distaste for the color of it. A lot of metal guys avoid it because of the surf color. I am telling you, this is one pedal where the pedal type, aesthetic and market it could be reaching is all wrong.

You're right there. Nothing in the marketing and packaging suggests it would be fine for a metal player.

Aren't MXR pedals made in USA? I thought they were.
I buy most of my stuff used, so no company can increase sales by catering to my preferences.

I've never bit on the 805 due to the dorky look, lazy naming, and the fact that the big knobs are the ones I wouldn't move often and the tiny controls are the ones I'd use constantly.

Here here!!!

I just put together a board for a buddy, that’s entirely made up of SD pedals.. Well, & a TU-3 tuner…

We didn’t plan it out like this or anything, they just seemed to have the best “bang for your buck” on the used market & he was on a budget.

I was able to get the TU-3 tuner, a Vice Grip compressor, a 808 overdrive, a Palladium gain stage a Shape Shifter, a Vapor Trail, & a power supply to run them off of, all for just over $400..

To me - while awesome...

Duncan pedals are just at a weird price point. They are generally NOT uber functional things with mega modes etc. That is kind of what I expect at the cost. They are ultra high quality...now that they paid attention to after he was gone [name witheld] and stopped cheaping out on components.

So for what the pedals are I either expect them to be cheaper, or to have more features. That's just me.

Example: Dirty Deed - great sounding Distortion pedal. But it runs around $120+

Or I could get an MXR Bad@$$ 78. Which does about the same thing, for $79 all day long.

Yes, the active controls are cool but not necessary, the true bypasses - whatever, jacks on the end, personal taste, and 18v - meh. It's cool stuff, and a lot of it. In the 805 it all makes sense. In a dirt box - it's a lot of excess stuff that serious geeks won't buy from Duncan, and casual dirt box buyers won't pay for, because 78 BAd@$$.

Add a low mid high gain with, and a mid push button....now we are talking.

The super reverb and delay pedals like the Silver Lake are cheap for everything they do.
