What is this black strip for?

Re: What is this black strip for?

Interesting. I had a Rhoads Flying V that I could not play sitting down. So they developed a solution for that. Cool.

Re: What is this black strip for?

Yeah.... I wonder if it actually works though, I mean... it might but then it looks like there wouldn't be enough grip there... I don't know.

Re: What is this black strip for?

I can't tell if it actually works or not.
I have an Epi '58 Goth V and the "geniuses" at Epiphone (or most likely the guys at the Korean plant where it was built) put that rubber strip on a recessed channel the size and depth of the strip so it's completely useless! :smack:

Looks like they fixed it for the newer Epi V's.

Re: What is this black strip for?

From my experience, they don't work for ****.

But that's why you sit with a V like this:

Put it over one leg. Almost impossible to do with a Rhoads though.

Re: What is this black strip for?

I think playing a "V" in classical position is a very comfortable way to play it.

"I don't care for the rubber no slip strip they put on the bottom of the guitar. It's an eyesore to me. I don't use it because of the way I hold the guitar when sitting down."
