What is this ? Bouzouki ?

Re: What is this ? Bouzouki ?

FWIW - I'm reading that a Cittern is 10-string, Octave Mandolin is 8-string and Greek Bouzouki is 6-string, though the terms are known to be used interchangeably.

10 strings = dj0nt \m/0000\m/

P.S. That is the legendary four-headed chugga-monster.

Re: What is this ? Bouzouki ?

I'm pretty sure it's just a long scale octave mandolin. It's not a mandocello, they are a lot thicker than that (see the picture above).

The terms Bouzouki and Octave Mandolin are definitely used interchangeably by most people, despite the differences.

I sent her an email. Among the many things in her profile, it says she plays mandola, irish bouzouki and a special custom-made baritone guitar (which she invented!). I believe those are the three instruments, respectively, as seen in the photos. I'll see if she answers.

Re: What is this ? Bouzouki ?

It's official:

"The instrument I’m holding is an Irish Bouzouki. It’s a beautiful handmade one from a luthier named Paul Hathaway in London. Here’s his website http://www.paulhathway.com/

This particular Irish Bouzouki has a cedar wood top and so it has a rich a warm tone/sound."
