Only things I can find in the ball park are Hondo, Cort, Aria, Ibanez, Takamine or ESP (all Japanese brands)
But the only ones with that concave lower bout are either kits or custom-made.

Well, I just asked Troy. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was all the art/photography department of Hal Leonard and he wasn’t involved, but let’s see.

I owned that book as a teenager. Ironically, the guitar wouldn't be able to do many of the tricks within it, since most relied heavily on a double-locking tremolo system.

It's probably a custom guitar created to suggest a brand guitar but intended to avoid lawsuits on the cover of a book

All of the other books on the covers of that series are Kramers and Hamers. Troy said they picked the most eye catching guitars off the wall in whatever the local guitar shop was in Milwaukee for the photo shoots. Definitely not a big enough budget to commission a guitar, but if it was there it’s easy to see how it would be chosen.
