What is this technique?

Could someone listen to this short clip, (taken from the SD pup samples page), and tell me what technique this is? Is this hard to do? Is there something I can do to try this, or practice it?

I love this sound, but I have no idea how to do it, or what it is.
(Other than some sort of "tapping" or something.)

Alnico II Pro Strat neck clean

Thanks all.

Re: What is this technique?

i think he's playing with his pick and fingers

he's using his fingers to pull the strings up so they slap back on the fretboard giving that "pop" sound

that sounds about right to me, he's deff. using his fingers almost like slap bass on guitar

Re: What is this technique?

Did you see the TWANG clip posted by Curly? I believe the technique
is called Flatpicking ? Check out that clip! It's Jerry Donahue and they
show close ups of his right hand doing it. As soon as the blisters on
my middle and ring finger heal. I'm gonna give it another shot. :laugh2:

Re: What is this technique?

I don't think that there is a pick at all involved...listen closely, he plucks the low and high strings.

Re: What is this technique?

Dang, that "Twang" clip is in Real Audio format. I hate to install software just to listen to one clip. :yell:

Re: What is this technique?

Alright. I'll go find the CD. I actually bought and paid for RA at one time.

Re: What is this technique?

Wow . . . that was outstanding. :32:

I doubt that I'll ever play like that, but I'ld still like to figure out how to do that "tapping" thang. ;)
