What is TubeScreamer-ish, but thick and rich?

The TS-9 is a nice pedal.

I dig the overdrive tones and even the more distorted tones.

But I don't like how it just sucks all the bottom end out of my normal guitar signal.

In the same price range, what's a nice bluesy overdrive that is nice and full sounding?

Did you try the TS9 DX? It's got 4 modes, one of which adds the missing bottom end

MXR Classic Overdrive. Your search will be over.

However, almost all OD's pull some low end out by nature. When the lows are overdriven too much, it gets muddy. Shifting the frequency cutoff up a bit clears things up.

Green Rhino? I went through 5 different TS style pedals until the Rhino. That 100HZ knob is tits!

Maybe you could check out the N.O.C.3 Pure Drive. It has a TS voicing to it, and allowing you to blend in some dry signal. It's supposed to give a bit more clarity, and maybe it'll keep some of the low-end too?

Don't forget the Xotic BB Preamp. I don't usually crank the bass on mine, but it's nice to have it if I need to.

MI Audio Blues Pro fits your description to a "T" i've bought and sold it several times...it's probably time to buy one again...hahah! You can snag them used for around $80

Re: What is TubeScreamer-ish, but thick and rich?

If you want to stick to Ibanez, do look into their new BB9 Bottom Booster.

An OD with no loss is low end, unlike their precious green TS9/808s.

MXR Classic Overdrive. +1
Great pedal, but I wouldn't really consider it thick and rich per se. Actually, it makes my sound thinner.

Re: What is TubeScreamer-ish, but thick and rich?

I really need to give the Double Trouble or Jekyll and Hyde a go. I still think my H2O is a great, great pedal.

Re: What is TubeScreamer-ish, but thick and rich?

fulldrive
green rhino
mxr classic overdrive/gtod
sparkle drive
trex moller
and many many more
....
the list is probably the longest in the pedal world.
fwiw...the fulldrive is 2 stage so its flexible and great for live work.

+1 on the classic Overdrive. I replaced a TS9 on my Deluxe Reverbs board and it sounds great. I had a standard RI TS9. I also use a TS9 modded by Stratdeluxer on my other board and this also sounds really great! The stock RI TS9 is OK but the modded ones are a lot better.

+1 on this - I just picked one up from another forum member, its very versatile, responds very well to volume changes.

Another option is the BOSS BD-2 blues driver, which retains the bottom end a bit better than a TS and can be picked up used for a reasonable price.
