Littel wonder, the OD-808 IS a Tubescreamer. You can't really mess with the EQ of a Tubescreamer and get its exact heralded sound but with more bass /less mid hump. If you change the circuit, you lose the magic. I say that , cause sometimes some people are under the imperssion you can have your cake and eat it too, meaning you have that exact same screamer sound, but with less mids and more bass, and thats not gonna happen..I see that kind of thinking a lot with pickups like the JB as well. The King of tone, made from the Bluesbreaker circuit, is about the best your going to do as far as something that is a "better" tubescreamer, with more bottom, less mids, and a thick rich tone. Analogman , on his home page, compares his King of Tone to the tubescreamer as a way to explain it, even though it is not based on the Tubescreamer.
Just get yourself a Fulltone Fulldrive II .

Check this out. I have a Maxon TBO-9 that has a subminiature tube in it. It's exactly what you're looking for and then some. It's thick and rich, and you don't any bottom end. It also has two drive controls. One is for solid state drive like a regular tube screamer, and the other controls the tube drive. There are a few different ways to use it, and you can even get a nice amount of overdrive on a totally clean amp. Maxon made the original tube screamers so you can't beat it.
