Guys, as you know, i am busy working on a Celtic Amp with the help of our good friend and master amp builder Scott !

Looks like i am getting a JTM45 clone, ala Edana !

Now it is my understanding this i a LOUD mofo, so i will need to get some "out-side" help for extra dirt.

So now i just want to see what YOUR FAV Fuzz pedal is !

Feel free to say what genre's you use it for too !

I alrewady have a Big Muff, but want to get more - what do you have and why !?

Thanx to all

JP

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

I've always liked the orange-box Super Fuzzes, but haven't got a chance to play one myself... last one I saw on eBat was $450 BIN.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

I got my tweak fuzz. It's my only fuzz unit. I used to own a MI Audio Neo Fuzz, but it didn't work for me. The Tweak just lets me do a lot more. More versatile is probably what everyone will say.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

Anything by D*A*M*, but be prepared to wait quite a while or pay an exuberant ammount on ebay for a meathead/meathead deluxe/ramhead.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

The Fulltone Ultimate Octave with the octaver off.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

AnalogMan NKT 275 Sunface for fuzz, but with a JTM45 clone I would put a BSM RM treble booster in front of it for a classic driven tone. In fact, I think both would be in order!

Cheers.....................wahwah

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

For fuzz, I have a tonebender mk2 clone built by my amp repair guy. It's fun. I also dig the frantone peach fuzz, SD tweak fuzz, Crowther hotcake at high gain settings, THE Keeley java boost, and the DAM stuff.

I also dig the MI audio tube zone at high gain. I sort of has a big muff-type tone but with a tighter low end that doesn't get annoying after a while like I find big muffs do.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

Fulltone 69...instant Jimi Hendrix.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

I have a BYOC Fuzz Face I like, but I'd like to check the OLC Chunky Cheese. It's a Big Cheese clone.

Fulltone 69...instant Jimi Hendrix.

Does that have a healthy output?! Enough to boost?

I quite like the tone of the Tweakfuzz but it doesn't have enough ballz in the output stage even with the 'volume' wide open.

Love to find something that smooth for soloing but with more juice.

It does for me...and I'm sure Jimi would have loved it too!

I have one (1970 Univox), and yes, they are super sweet. Ive cleaned it up a bit and this thing can go from creamy to really really ugly. Very different from other fuzzes Ive played. Very musical.

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

Which one's clean up best?

So far it's been the FoxRox FuzzFoot for me. Any other ideas?

SuperFuzz? 69? SoulBender?

Re: What is YOUR fav. Fuzz unit ?

My fav fuzz...it all depends on what sstyle of fuzz tones Im looking at the time!

I am partial to Big Muff's I like the Fulltone Ultimate Octave, the old Foxx tone machines are cool as are the old Jordan Bosstones, Im aslo a fan of fuzz Face type units (when used correctly), my roger mayer Axis Fuzz is GREAT for the later Hendrix type tones...it all depends.

As for which ones clean up the best...thats not really a fuzz tones strong suite but it can be done...that said it depends a lot on how much fuzz you have dialed in and how hot your pickups are...

Pics or sound clips?

All my experience with tthe Super Fuzz is off of Live at Leeds and at the Isle of Wight Festival by The Who... on the outro of My Generation during the 7.5-minute medley on the IoW CD it sounds incredible.

I have the guitar, now I just need $400-500 for the pedal and several thousand for the Hiwatts.
