What is YOUR fav two delays (analog & digi) ? ?

Re: What is YOUR fav two delays (analog & digi) ? ?

How does the re-6 mode of the 1776 compare to the real thing?
I think you mean RE-201 ...

It is not a dead nuts copy, more like a snapshot of the most useable settings. I also have the RE-20 and that is much closer to the orginal. It gets really wild. Sometimes when I listen back to my recordings I cannot tell the difference between the RE-20 and the 201 ...

Currently obtaining all of my "Echoes" from a Catalinbread Echorec. (Very Gilmourish!)

Yes I do lol. I don't know where I got re-6.

Looks like dirtbaby it is then. I just need to unload some projects for gear money first haha.

Analogue - TTE - Real tape echo has a subtleness to it that I haven't been able to find in a non-tape effect. For whatever reason it lays in the background without interfering with dry guitar in the way that all the BBD and digital delays I've tried have.

Digital - DD-5 - I like it because it's simple and it works well in an effects loop.

Don't get me wrong, the Multiplex is a WONDERFUL echo unit; it's incredibly easy to get a great echo going; but for better or worse, it lacks the 'you gotta fight it if you want it to sound good' aspect of other tape echo simulation units. (The strymon DECO is in the same category; I love it, but it doesn't have a bad sound on it; once again, better or worse depending on your perspective :) )

Analog: Way Huge Supa Puss. Very analog sounding repeats that can get nice and chewy with the gain knob. Tap tempo, super lush modulation, more than enough delay time and the ability to overclock them.

Digital: Empress Tape Delay. Tap tempo, ability to store presets, long delay times and can go from pretty pristine repeats to very tapey sounding repeats without sounding like it's trying too hard (if that makes sense). Despite the many options it has, it features a very nice layout which makes dialing it in easy, fast and fun.

Yeah the appeal for me was that it could do binson, EP-3 and re-201 in the same enclosure. I also love the 'ramp' and 'feedback' options, and that you can wire it for tails - the dirtbaby doesn't have that capability (according to the build document at least) yet.

I also love the option of adding tap tempo to it. And being able to add your own modulation lol.

Does anybody make a stomp-based rotary switch? For what I'm planning I'm gonna need like 5 footwswitches so what's one more, right?

Ha, yeah! Mine has a rotary switch for selecting the echo type, but I don't know which one it is; board member Toe-knee built it for me.

This is mine before I labeled it.

That's awesome! Half of me wants something simple (on/off and tap temp) and the other half wants footswitchable modulation, (vibe/trem/chorus and phasing) ramp and feedback controls, footswitchable mode selection, tap tempo, and an onboard boost/buffer... But then I think about how much work it would be implementing all that functionality and I cringe lol.

I too have the RE-20, and use it more than any of my other delays.

Never messed around with the original version, but so far, i like my RE-20, especially for what i paid for it used.

Do you still have your TTE ?
