what is your favorite low wattage tube amp for below $700

Re: what is your favorite low wattage tube amp for below $700

well I'm indecisive still, I'm gonna get some cleaning done in my apartment since my time off is far and few between and then at 6:00 tonight I'm gonna head back to GC and pull the trigger on something.

I think my top 3 are definitely
Egnater Tweaker Stack
Vox AC15C1
Blackstar HT Club 20 with 1x12 cab

Not saying the others were awful these were just my personal preferences. The Peavey they had seemed defective I was getting weird cutting in/out stuff going on.

All 3 are great choices - we are lucky to live in the time where all of these amps can be had for $600ish.

That's just plain awesome.

Used AC15 with Emi Wizard speaker (103.5dB)

AC15 stock driver = 96dB (Greenback)

I am crazy about the HT-40 Blackstar, fantastic, versatile amp.

I played one of those one day and was pretty impressed with it.

It gave up the goods so easily - I didn't feel like I had to fight it at all.

One drawback I identified is that I was not able to dial in that "light crunch / sparkle" tone when I was messing with it.

My favourite low wattage amplifier is the same one that it has been since 1984 - the Fender Super Champ.

Take a look at the new Egnater Tweaker 40 w/2 6L6's. It's a great amp for $600 new. It'll have more headroom and low end than the tiny Tweaker.

The Blackstar and Fender Supersonic amps are also a good bang for buck.

Amp $300
Speaker box $99
Ragin Cajun speaker $80
Cosmetics $30

Total $519

Plenty loud and gig worthy. Best all around practice/small gig amp I've ever owned.

oh man I wish I'd seen that before I left for GC but I have an announcement

CUE DRUM ROLL!

Tweaker Head (original 15 watt)
Tweaker 2x12" Cabinet

I'm gonna keep it stock for now but I'll likely have Bob from Eurotubes pick a set of tubes (maybe some EL34s for more british flavor) for it and I'd like to try a combo of Eminence Speakers like Swamp Thang/Canis Major and Red Fang or a Texas Heat and a Private Jack.

But thanks everyone for their suggestions I almost got the 40 watt version but I just figured with the Twin Tube Classic, Tweak Fuzz, and Double Back Compressor I'd bought enough for a while can't have the fiance wanting to kill me.

AC15 sounded great but didn't have enough clean headroom for my tastes. Lots of great choices out though. I liked the Blackstar but the Egnater added a third tone where the ISF basically gives you Fender or Marshall this amp gives you Fender, Vox, Marshall.

I'm gonna cast another vote with AC15 because I am in love with mine.

Gotta say those Fender Supersonic amps are great too. I've always kind regretted passing one up.

the super sonic is a great amp just out of my price range if I had $1k+ to spend it would've been on my list

Come up with another $150 and buy THIS!

I own a combo and if something happened to mine I would play the $1495 list if I had to to get another. They simply are amazing amps that are built like a tank and sound simply glorious!!
Here is my combo unmiced in a huge room recorded off the camera mic from the story above in the lobby of an old hospital.

Off of your list hands down the Carvin V-3. The Vintage 16 IMO is a dog however. The Zinkys are in a whole other class though!!!

Bugera V22 cranked on the triode mode is awesome. If you need more swat it can be switched to pentode.

Best bang for the buck amp I've ever had. Solid and reliable and the stock red frame speaker is a real gem.
