What is your oldest stomp still in service?

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

I use mine instead of a chorus. Something about a very slow set flanger that just sounds more interesting to my ears than a chorus. Then again, what that particular pedal would need is a proper mix knob.

I can see that working. I use a DOD Phasor in a similar way. I agree on the mix knob, it always felt too present to use often.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

the oldest i use regularly is a tu2 from '98 or so, i still have a dd2 thats probably 10 years older but i barely ever use it

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

MXR Distortion + from 1983 (now modded) have an original Tubescreamer (w/the square button switch), that was bought in the early 80's, never made it to my board, played it once (to make sure it worked), then put in storage.....

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

I also owned a Ross phaser from the 70s for quite awhile until someone offered me lots of $ for it. I like the sound of a Small Stone better.

I had a script logo Phase 90 for a while and sold it when someone offered me $250 for it. If I'd held onto it for a couple more years, I could've had $600 :smack:

A big factor in deciding to sell was finding an EVH Phase 90 that sounded virtually identical on 'script' mode while having a better bypass.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

MXR Phase 90
DOD Pre-Amp 250
Crybaby
Big Muff Pi
All '70's, TMK, except maybe the DOD, which might be early '80's.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

I am already starting to GAS for vintage stomps. Might have been a bad idea starting this thread.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

Another MXR distortion + from late 70’s. I don’t used it anymore but back in the day it did sound great with an old Marshall super lead. It’s still in excellent condition with the box.

Don't. :)

Go for reissues. I used to have an all vintage stompbox pedalboard. EHX, DOD, MXR and my crown jewel: Ross comp.

They were noisy, some had no led so they were hard to track and others required maintenance every now and then. I kept them for the mojo. Because I'm a moron :)

One day playing live I started playing without the Ross or a 250 because they had no led and I thought they were on. Instead of a boosted crunchy line there was a wimp :) later that day the vintage DOD Phasor died and cut the signal mid song.

Instead of fixing or modding them as usual I sold them all, bought reissues (true bypass, quieter, with LEDs etc) and made some money.

Just my 2¢. YMMV etc

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

O lord those stick out of your ax effects were so awkward. I remember buying a bass boost by some off brand company in the late 70's that was configered like that. I was convinced the thing was going to make my Kent SG and Sears SS amp sound like Iommi.

I have a working one of these. Bought it in 71.It rarely gets used these days. Mine is a plug into the guitar one but I've seen pics of ones that plugged into the amp.

I still use my Jen Wow Pedal I bought around 1977/78 to replace one I bought in 1971 that had gone walk about. It's been modded.

I have several rigs so there are not a lot of pedals per each. My oldest pedals still in use are 2 each Rocktron Silver Dragons with an NOS 5814A tube upgrade. I have 2 each BK Butler/TubeWorks Real Tube pedals and a modified BK Butler/TubeWorks Blue Tube (to use an octal NOS 6SL7 tube) an Electro Harmonix English Muff'n, a Radial Tonebone Classic and a Behringer VT-999 Vintage Tube Monster. I like tube pedals.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

The Visual Sound H2O. It's the most consistent pedal on my board. I've owned all 3 versions since 2011.

Oldest pedals I own? Boss SD-1 from the mid 80's, Ibanez Delay III mid to ate 80's, and a Marshall Guv'nor Mk I from the early 90's.

Early 70's Thomas Organ Company Stereo Fuzz Wah Volume pedal?
Late 70's MXR Micro Amp?
Mid 80's DD-3 and Washburn Accelerator Series Chorus

If it didn't work I tossed it. Those last two though, they have gigged with Hollywood Blvd....

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

It's probably my MIJ BF-2. I bought it used, so I'm not sure exactly how old it is. I've had a BF-2 and a CE-2 on my board since 1982, but not the exact same pedals. A couple got stolen, others sold off and then re-purchased. My current CE-2 is MIC, so it's a bit newer.

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

I bought one in 1993 to play the new hit song "Are you gonna go my way?" after my band peer pressured me Lol
Didn't know what to do with it afterwards.

The same thing happened to me and the digitech pitchshifter. I only used it once due to band peer pressure and never used it after. Have no clue what to do with it. It’s been sitting on my shelf for the last 10years, and the cat chewed through the power supply.

Which song was it?

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

I have an Ibanez FL-301DX on my board from 1979. I've only had it a few months but it sounds great, not quite like any other flanger I've heard!

Re: What is your oldest stomp still in service?

My oldest survivor is my Ibanez TS9. I got it back in the 1970s, whenever it was that they first came out. It still works like a champ, and I've still got the original box and 9v wall wart for it. I do have a few older units, I should get them out and see if any of them are still viable.
