Re: What Marshall is this?

I have a pretty good feeling that it is a 4212 NOT a 5212...if it is a 4212 is a 2x12 combo version of the 2205 head...it's JCM 800, split channel with reverb...

Is it one of the good jcm 800's?

What kind of tone are you looking for?

The 2205/2210's were the first channel switching Marshalls and IMO the cl;ean tone is not so good...the crunch tone is cool...Tom Morello uses the 2205 head...maybe that will give you something to go by

Re: What Marshall is this?

Well, I was told that the Judas Priest tone on "Painkiller" for example is a cranked JCM 800, that means I'm looking for a cool 80's rock and heavy metal tone, if possible, or else I'm sure it's a great amp anyway, and will be better than my solid state POS marshall MG regardless what version it is.

Re: What Marshall is this?

and by the way, could I go wrong for a price like 247.375 USD ? at least that is the price it's at right now.

5212 Split Channel Reverb, 50W 2x12" combo
The 5212 was introduced in 1986 and it was discontinued in 1991. This combo is the transistorised version of the 4212 combo. It was fitted with 2 Celestion G12M70 speakers and had a reverb and an effects loop.

User manual for Split Channel models: 2205, 2210, 3203, 3210, 4203, 4210, 4211, 4212, 5210, 5212, 5213, 5215 & 5275 (947kB).

Re: What Marshall is this?

I know very little about Judas Priest...do a google search on 2205/2210 and see what you find...there are lots of guys that love the 2205/2210 amps out there...

Re: What Marshall is this?

WOW! I couldn't find mention of a 5212 in my book (my memory!)...if it is in fact a 5212 it's solid state and I would stay away!!!

Props to PUCKBOY for comming through!!!

So it's a solid state amp?

Re: What Marshall is this?

argh...Just thought I found a good amp, for a cheap price..ffs, I need a tube amp badly.. Yesterday I missed the opportunity of getting a tube head.

Re: What Marshall is this?

Probably not a bad price, but I'd save & get a nice tuber instead.

Sorry..........

Is it a local seller? Might be worth checking out anyway. The 2x12 Greenbacks might be nicer than what you're using....if it has the original speakers.

Yeah..no standby...

and BTW..if you are looking for a killer solid state amp...thats the one to get....Alot better than the MG and Valvestate stuff they produce today. It's basically a high wattage, channel switching lead 12. Same tones.

I had one just like it, and I'd snatch it up if I had the extra cash laying around.

Do you have any soundclips?

Re: What Marshall is this?

I have a cool soundclip of a lead 12...but no server to put it on...I snagged it off of the Les Paul forum....

If anyone has a server they can upload too I can send it to them...it's 324KB

I'll go search the LP forum and see if I can find the original link....
