What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

Well, it's a revolver, as to what specific model I don't know, sorry.

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

I love that pup set up, my strat project would have it, only I would set it up with one tone control and two volume controls, Mathias style. Wasnt a fernandez a company that made such good strats that Fender sued them? I remmber playing a fernandez strat it was a great guitar.

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

Older Fernandes guitars (Japan made) are great guitars!!!! I believe they are now made in china and are ok??? but nowhere near as good as the older japanese ones!

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

i have an older Fernandes that is close to that one.... mine has an agled neck single coil and the floyd is top mounted... ugly finnish on mine called Desert Rose.... basicly a pinkish red sunburst... best $99 i spent....

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

I think they're called L-??? Isn't the Revolver a current LP-stylee shape?

Anyway, that's MIJ, late 80s or early 90s... most likely a basswood body. I think there was an upscale neck-through version as well as a bolt-on. The Floyd is a license copy, good quality IIRC?! Stock pickups probably aren't much to write home about...

I'll have to look it up but my 1989 Fernandes model is an L-something

the stock pickups in my 1989 Fernandes were not so good, but the neck seems to be a stacked Bill Lawerence, or a copy.. i stuck an old Jackson humbucker in the bridge... The Floyd on mine is slightly different then the one on this model, mine is called a Head Crasher and it is of amazing quality.... hardened steel for sure!!!!

My Fernandes has a Round Lam rosewood board.... i find that interesting when they do that!

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

PS.... everytime i think about building an expensive Warmoth strat with a Floyd i remind myself i bought my Fernandes with a quality Floyd copy for $99... The nut also seems to be made of super hard steel and the clamps hold well

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

99?
****.. ****ign cheap and thast a very good guitar

cheap is right.... it had sat at a local small music shop for years with a $350 price on it... it was used, about 11 years old when i bought it... no one had bought it for $350 but for $99 i did.... when they had their going out of business sale i ran down there and grabbed it for $99.. I had to give it a fret dress, which i do myself...

I was playing it for a few hours last night... it is the best $99 i have spent.... only other axe i grabbed for $99 was a used 80's plywood kramer... and this Fernandes is a real axe compaired to that Kramer

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

I need some help- am trying ti identify a guitar I have had for many years - was told it was a Fernandes when I bought it. Since I am new to the forum I have not as yet looked into how to post photo, but I will soon... what model is my guitar? and is it really a Fernandes? It is a large, solid body, electric with fake (faux) F holes...it is white with slightly recessed fake F holes painted black. It originally had active EMG double humbucker, pickups, with gold hardware. There is a huge capital 'F' on the headstock - no other markings.

Anybody help me with this, please!
Timmo
as an aside-
I have since switched out the active EMGs for a dynamite passive SeymourDuncan humbucker set (JB-2 in the neck position and the JB-4 'Jazz' at the bridge) HUGE improvement over the original active EMGs which died so I had purchase new pups

Re: What model is this Fernandes Guitar?

Without a picture it would be just guessing

I saw that you were still asking for help after a couple of years so I looked it up:

Fernandes MV-95HT
