What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

Years ago, it would have been my distortion pedal. Now, it's the FBV long board controlling my Spidervalve.

Wow what an extremely hard question to ask.
If I only was able to use 1 pedal it would be my Boss Wazacraft analog or DD-7 Digital delay pedal. I would have a hard time not using both as I love both of them so much and can get exactly what I want out of either of them. I like using 2 or even more delay pedals as I can tone shape and write without restriction.

Man but I would be lost without my Boss Waza Chorus pedal. Yeah call me old school 80's style player but I use Chorus on cleans most of the time. It's pretty rare I turn it off when I'm doing clean work. A few of my songs I have tried without and it sound beautiful and full but when you kick the Chorus on man it gets deep.
If I was to have a 2nd pedal , this would be the one.

Now up front of the amp If I only had one pedal it would absolutely be the tc electronics Spark Booster. This damn thing is so wonderful for anything you would use a boost or soft OD pedal for. Man it's incredible and organic sounding. It really brings you to a play of inspirational emotions. It's rich and lush accurate and very fast.

I like a chorus in my cleans as well. Even sometimes just a hint of it...it puts a nice sparkle in there.
I might not use it if I’m going for drier blusier type tone but for that big 80’s sound or some strumming passages it’s great.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

You know, I’m not even sure... I’ve got pedals that work with different guitars and amps.

Off hand, one go-to combo for me is Strat into Fulldrive 2 into Princeton Reverb. Between the amp volume, FD2 modes and settings and working the guitar controls I can get a wide range of tones. Add in the Wampler Pinnacle and between each and the combo stacked I’ve got a super wide range of great tones for a ton of genres.

I'm changing my answer - I should add the Peterson Strobo Tuner stomp.

Even though it doesn't affect my tone in the least, it is a pedal and I use it every time I pick up a guitar.

If only one pedal, I'd have to say TrueTone Jeckyl and Hyde. A good distortion and OD in one box.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

od9pro+ as a gain-channel booster. (usually at 18v, mid-boost on, full level, gain low or off, tone at noon)
Thing eats batteries at 18v so I'd switch to 9v if not on wall-power, but I'm usually plugged anyways.

If I was in a crowded rehearsal space I'd grab the VFE ice-scream instead.
You can adjust you're whole tone from this pedal if need be, where-as with the Maxon I tend to just set/forget the pedal and then tweak at the amp.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

The wah of course. A cry baby. Not that i have any other pedals. Not that i wouldn't want them - it's just clear to me that the wah is more important since it's a dynamic interactive foot control and not just an on switch. The volume pedal could be a contender, but it doesn't add as much complexity, plus the regular volume knob offers much of the same functionality. I don't know of any other expression pedals. Probably many other parameters would be great to have there.

For most stuff, i could make do with freebie VST's and pro-ass tinkering from years of electronic music production. Actually all one really needs is a MIDI expression pedal... But that doesn't change my immense verdict that the expression pedals are more essential and expressive (duhh) and instrument-ey than the button boxes.

I also feel that the talkbox isn't used nearly enough.

I don't use wah a lot, I find it far too overused in as it is. And I hate talkbox sound, can't name a single song where it actually sounds good.

But otherwise I fully agree. Expression pedal option should be standard in effect pedals.

Hve you checked out EHX Worm? (I know I've been raving about it here probably too much already, but it's just so brilliant device... And i'm usually very critical about gear)

Empress Compressor
Tech21 BDDI.

I literally cannot play without those 2.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

When I have a «surprise» rehearsal and can not take my board, the one pedal I take and goes in the gig bag with the guitar is the polytune mini. My most essential pedal.

+1 for the Fulldrive 2. It is always on with a small amount of volume push and set at low or minimum gain to help push my amp. All three FD modes are useful depending upon what I'm playing. Can I use a second pedal. Often, I often follow the FD2 with a Truetone H2O or a Keely 30ms pedal to help add some delay or body.

EP boost. It just works with any of my amps and compliments the other pedals. It’s almost always on.

Re: What one pedal do you think is the most important to you.

1st is the amp's footswitch. My amp has great clean tones, awesome distortion with multiple voicings on the gain channel, robust EQ on each channel, and footswitchable reverb. The most important pedal to add would be a digital delay, like a Boss DD-3.

To me from any videos I have watched The Empress is the best compressor in the market. Made in my own backyard.

I haven't. Seems cool with the exp. pedal comatibility!
