What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I've been using an old MXR Distortion+ since I bought it in 1979. It's just the best distortion pedal I've ever heard. Fabulous sound with my LP, warm, smooth, and edgy at the same time without being harsh or grating. Purrrfect!!

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

My dual Keeley TS-9 pillows... They really give allot of OD when I need it, and the right type of coloration to my tone. :)

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

Hughes & Kettner 12ax7 Tube Factor. It sounds huge for live playing.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

Fulltone Fulldrive 2
J. Everman Fuzzdrive
Pharaoh Amps Class A Booster (run between the preamp and poweramp section for a clean boost for solos)

Each of these boxes works it's own magic in different ways. After experimenting with nearly 20 "magic boxes" over the past 15 years, I've discovered true tone happiness with this set up.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

ive gone through a few pedals.... first i had the tonebone HB it diddnt work for me for some reason, sounded good through a marshall solid state though,.... today i use a reverend drivetrain II at home (doesent work well on my fender amp for some reason) and at band practice i use a keeley SE DS-1 and a TURBO RAT!!! i use the DS1 through the fender blues dlx for rythtem and stomp the rat for some high gain madness, i also have a NYC big muff thats pretty cool

SD-1 that i use mostly for a slight overdrive
Same here, all I need is a light touch of it to further smooth my tone. I got all the ball's I need in my grit with my Recto!

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I'm using a vintage DOD 250, the grey one. I use it mostly for soloing, it's a little grainy with chords. I like it because it doesn't add a lot of compression or mid hump, it's more of a top end boost. It gives each note a very satsifying bite when I dig in with the pick, it's extremely touch sensetive to whatever little nuances I might add and brings them to the front. Conversely it will also magnify any mistakes I might make no matter how slight so it forces me to play clean. It flat out screams with just about any humbucker and my cranked JCM 800, great for the R&B stuff I'm playing now. I'm sure there are better OD pedals out there, but this one suits my style and my rig so I've stuck with it.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I'm using the channel footswitches of my Mesa gear. :22:

I like it because the sound *ahem* totally rips. :duh:

They've replaced the channel footswitches of my previous Mesa gear. :smoker:

Actually, I'm using several other things to produce overdrive, as well, but my Mesa stuff is the only end of it that actually involves pedals.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

My beloved G2D Classic. At some point, I'm going to get a Crowther Hotcake to go alongside it.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I use the Klon Centaur and the boosts on the Ecstasy's 3 channels. I sold all my other overdrives including the great Banzai Coldfusion, Stamps Drive'O'Matic,
Blues Pearl Blue Screamer, and old TS-9. I wish I'd kept the Blue Screamer, since
it's the best Tubescreamer clone I've heard. The Klon sounds like you've bumped up the volume and gain on your amp, and adds a little bounciness under your fingers, which is all I want. To thwart off immitators, they chose to cover the circuit in black silicon glue.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I have a Visual Sound Route 66 and it is great. Got a sustainer-compressor along with it and it is pretty usefull. The tone is awsome but only with tube amp. Not extraordinary with a solid state amp. I'd choose that pedal anytime compare to a Tubescreamer.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

My favorites:
Fulltone '70 (really rich fuzzface tones, like it with the Bogner best)
Fulltone Soulbender (pretty intense, but a great tonebender-type sound)
Kendrick Buffalo Pfuz (silky and clean, very unique box)
BSM OR treble boost (best used with SLO-100 with warm overdrive)

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive for SRV type "clean" overdrive

Custom Shop Fulldrive ll for more crunchy overdrive.

:burnout:

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

TS-9
TS-5 w/t 808 mod
Tube Works (Tube Driver)
Danelectro Daddy-o
Boss OS-1

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

Vox Distortion Booster. No longer made, only distortion pedal I use. Mainly because I don't mess with pedals that much, and this thing sounds cool.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I'm using a Reverend DriveTrain II OD pedal with a older TS9 for lead boost...works great. My 70's Big Muff just crapped out so I'm sending it to pedal guru and Electro Harmonix master Ron Neely who also brought my script Phase 90 back from the dead. Check out his site for some kool pedals... www.ronsound.com
My Big Muff has that killer sweet fat sustain that goes for days, perfect for an almost synth sound and singing tone. I tried the newest Big Muff and Little Muff :smack: poo...I'm gonna be so happy to get my Muff back and working again.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I'm using a Keeley SEM DS-1... but I'd like a Keeley Phat BD-2 and an MXR Doubleshot as well. I'm getting into the habit of collecting cool distortion/overdrive pedals. I've gone thru a lot of them but it's only now that I'm really starting to find out what I like.

Re: What Overdrive Pedal are you using?

I mainly use the O/D on my Digitech 2112, but I also use a Mesa-Boogie Bottle Rocket... which can be harsh by itself, but I run it thru a Boss EQ-20 & it keeps it in check.
