What overdrive?

Re: What overdrive?

If you are looking for a better sounding Tube Screamer I suggest the Visual Sound Rt 808. It sounds like a modded 808 tube screamer with a switch to boost the bass. Usually you can pick them up pretty cheap on the used market.

Re: What overdrive?

At this point, if I were you, I'd be focusing an something really Dynamic, that tracks your playing in a more touch responsive way than the great tubescreamer.
If you want to fork out some major bucks, i'd say a good launching point for a dynamic pedal that is a transparent overdrive is the OCD.
I don't think the GT-Od's and their ilk come quite as highly rated in the Dynamics and response arena as the OCD's/Timmys.

That said, if you want a superb very dynamic / responsive pedal that can also do a very transparent clean boost sound and also a thick natural organic overdrive, I believe the Duncan LavaBox pedal is a amazing bargain. Its essentially a boutique pedal at not boutique price. The LavaBox Pedal has earned a hard fought piece of prime real estate on my pedalboard edging out much higher priced boutique/vintage pedals.

That Lava Box is very nice. Warm OD to very saturated distortion. Has 6 different tone settings...I always have mine set on the thickest/warmest one, even though I'm running hummers though it. Very bluesy.

Re: What overdrive?

What kind of music are you playing?

The TS9DX is not my cup of tea either. Why not just a TS9?, or maybe a TS808
