Is there a pedal that will get me the sound of no pedals?? :scratchch

Sorry; I think I've been reading TGP far too much. I need to stop ...:why:

I don't know how I should feel about this.

This was "inspired" -- if that's the right word -- by a TGP thread asking if there was a pedal that gave the "Sultans of Swing" sound.

"Sultans" is quintessential clean Fender tone, mostly unaffected and uneffected. Mostly. Knopfler used an Armstrong orange squeeze besides the Strat and brown tolex Vibrolux. But Sultans would have swung even without the compressor, I think.

A question likes that speaks to our obsession with gear. Sometimes, no pedals are best. If we obsessed over good songs half as much as we obsessed over gear, we'd have some great music (this isn't directed at anyone here).

Of course, if you're going to be laser-focused on gear, TGP is the logical place to be, I guess.

I seriously use about 5 pedals to get a great acoustic sound.

Someone should make a pedal that models different types of guitar cable. Vintage curly, gold plated jacks etc...

Some should make the unpedal pedal....with taptempo, midi, true hue lue due skypass, presets x100000000000000, fluffered and all dat....with weekly updates from the company to the software part!!
iPedal with rectrum screen and 90 core processor!
Emulated true bypass or buffer....emulated emulation as well!
HAI!

You don't need that bro, there is a Jack that does it, and it's by Neutrik!!!

Look at this:

One is coming. I would like to test it with my strat.

Re: What pedal do I use to get a clean guitar-into-amp sound?

There are a couple of pedals that are basically volume cuts. I was thinking of building myself something that was a volume and bass cut to clean up my sounds without having to go over to the amp and can be static so I don't have to find exactly where on my vol pot the right setting is.

I want a 'Clean Gun', a handheld, battery-powered device that I can carry around with me. Any time i hear overly-distorted guitar, I can point the Clean Gun at the player's rig and pull the trigger, which will immediately remove all distortion from their sound.

I'll hang out at metal venues and watch as the bands suddenly have the sound of Bill Haley's Comets.

...but only if it's FULL ANALOG SIGNAL PATH digital emulation of true bypass.

I want a pedal that makes my guitar sound like PGS-Andy's voice.

Re: What pedal do I use to get a clean guitar-into-amp sound?

You really don't need a pedal. Just buy a high quality, true bypass cord, stretch it out between two trees and spray it with low VOC adhesive and then sprinkle on a heavy coat of gold glitter for the ultimate in RF shielding. Don't use the silver glitter as it has a tendency to attenuate the highs.

There is a widely accepted fallacy that Mark knopfler uses a compressor pedal. This couldn't be farther from the truth. I have seen him live on YouTube many times and the fact is that he steps on his cord and varies the pressure as needed to get just the right amount of compression.
