i didn't read thru all this thread but back in the 80's a lot of us players thought the Boss DS1 sounded close to a JCM 800..... The DS1 does not have a lot of low end thumb but thru the right amp it had close to a Marshallish tone.... I still use DS1's today....

you're not going to get a $100 pedal and sound like a $1000 rig, simple as that.

Check out the Radial Tonebone Trimode used on an Edana, driving 2 cabinets with 4X12's
