What pedal would you add to my board?

Hi to all! ;)

I have took a little more time to test out my pedalboard today, and boy, it once more shines through how hard it is to compile a great sounding pedalboard that is taylored to your playing style, guitars you use, amps, etc...
Just for the later recommendation I will ask from you guys, I am telling you I am playing both Ibanez RG's and Fender Strat (SSS- no blades, vintage style), Fender Hot Rod Deluxe "Bluesman" LE (with Celestion V30), styles are from bluesy to bluesrock/classic rock and from hardrock to metal.

Three pedals got removed from the board after some more extensive testing, not that those pedals were bad, but they simply did not fit in well enough with the amp or my playing style/needs.
I have decided to order a Korg Pitchblack pedal tuner to add to the board since a good pedal tuner is a must when using a board I think. When it arrives my current board set-up will look like this:

Pitchblack> GGG BB1 (Vintage Marshall Bluesbreaker clone)> GGG ITS8 (TS-808 clone with mods) > Eagletone Hell Dude (Biyang Metal End) > (here it goes into the amp's input, from here effects are in the FX-loop) > Fame Sweet Tone Softener (Biyang CH-8 Chorus) > Das Lineal (LPB-1 clone) > Eagletone Pipeline (Biyang AD-8 Delay)

I am pretty happy with the tones this current line-up produces, the only thing I would like to add is (describing tone is hard, I know) a smooth, creamy and liquid sounding, gutting out SUSTAIN lead tone that is still articulate op top of all that.

What would you guys add to my board to reach that lead/solo sound I am after? Do I need to add a compressor (prob would make myself a Ross or DynaComp clone) to my set-up?
Or would you add a specific OD/Dist/Fuzz to the set-up? Let me hear your ideas please!!

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

Thx for the reply Astrozombie ;)

I still have some effects off the board that I use now and then, a wah, a tremelo, and a phaser too, it may sneak it's way up the board now that there is extra room after three pedals got expelled from it.

But my original quest is after a pedal that will offer me a fluid, creamy, violin like sound to solo with, one that would still offer some clarity on the lower strings (not being too farty) while still singing and offering plenty of sustain.

Any thoughts? Thx in advance for any replies! ;)

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

i use a Big Muff Pi for my thick, huge, liquid lead tones

that or something like it

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

Stomp Under Foot Civil War Muff

Skeddy Screw Driver

Skreddy Lunar Module

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

Eric Johnson seems to do fine for his fat, creamy and long sustained solos with his Fuzz Face, playing Strats.

Definitely some sort of fuzz is what you want, as suggested already.
Damn, I want one.

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

run a rat (or clone with the original lm308 circuit) after your tube screamer. turn them both on. good for liquid sustain with articulation. Very harmonically rich tone.
I find fuzzes are not very articulate even tho they are a lot of fun.

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

Thx for the input so far guys! Much appreciated as usual!

I admit some sort of fuzz has been on my mind to reach that sound I am after, lead/solo tones like Eric Johnson or David Gilmour are surely a good example of what I am after, and they are known fuzz users indeed.
However, gibson175 has a good poing when he remarks that most fuzzes ar not very articulate. That was my main worry that kept me from just going for a fuzz, I feared it might get "farty" on the lower strings (E-A-D), something a lot of fuzzes do.
Gibson175 has hit the ohter pedal that was one my mind, a RAT clone with an LM308 IC :)

On this time, my preference goes between the two types recommended, a fuzz pedal or a RAT clone with LM308 IC. (last one could be used in combo with a TS type, or on itself as a standalone box).

Any further input still welcome! Thanks in advance for any replies! ;)

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

A fuzz and/or a compressor would round things out quite nicely. You have a lot of Biyang pedals and I don't see any reason to stray if you like them so much.

Apparantly the GFS pedals are made by Biyang and go for about $50 each.

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

You've already got tons of pedals for dirty leads . . . you need something for clean leads:

Seriously though, check out a couple different compressors . . . smooth, creamy, sustainy and articulate can all be had through proper use of a compressor when soloing.

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

As said a compressor or fuzz would be good but maybe even something like a tube driver (for that gilmour tone) or another dirt pedal you dont seem to have anything in the middle (only overdrive and metal)

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

I second the muff being too loose... flabby even... They are fun as hell, but limited to doing that one thing...

The Blues Driver in front of your Ts808 clone will increase sustain and improve clarity... It also is fun to play by itself for clean solos...

I hate myself for selling my Keeley comp years back... But, I'm working on that issue now that I'm playing more often....

Good luck on your quest...

Re: What pedal would you add to my board?

I definitely say a fuzz pedal but stay away from the muff. You are right about alot of the pedals getting farty on the low E. I love my Fuzz Factory but it is way too aggressive for what you want. I would say something like a Peachfuzz, its a very nice creamy fuzz that isnt super aggressive or harsh like the big muff or the fuzz factory. There are so many amazing fuzz pedals I would go with that. I personally don't care for compressors on my board.

Too many skank jokes, so little time.

:jester: LOL

I do have a lot of Biyang pedals, and I don't at the same time, LOL, all the ones I have so far are relabeled ones hehe, not a single one actualy says Biyang on the outside, of course they are exactly the same as the Biyang and therefor can surely be concidered as Biyangs, I am just putting the funny fact out (Biyang pedals can be found relabeled A LOT: Fame, GHS, Eagletone, Collins, Akai, etc...). I am real happy with the ones on my board so far, I don't make that a secret!! ;)

Thanks for all the input guys, I truly appreciate it!
I've decided to get the following for my board:
I will get a RAT clone (LM308 IC) with some clipping options to see what I can do with that in my current setup. I decided on getting the Biyang Mouse DS-8 (at least a relabeled one once more lol), and see what it can add to my current setup.
I also decided on making myself a compressor, I'll go for a DIY Ross-clone here to add to my board.
Whenever I'll be able to sell some of my old stuff that I don't use anymore, I'll most likely add a Fuzz as well, just for the fun of it.

BTW Davidandrew: the PeachFuzz you say, it sounds familiar to me somehow... Isn't the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz supposed to be a PeachFuzz clone?? (I'll look into it made thx for the tip and thx in advance for your reply!)

I believe that since you're all-capping SUSTAIN what you're after is a Compressor... I don't have a lot of experience with them but I have a buddy that uses the Keeley 4-knob deal... and MAN, he's got sustain for days... as well as great ROCK 'N ROLL tone!

It sure is, its probably my favorite every song fuzz pedal but I do really love the Fuzz Factory as well. The peachfuzz can get very smooth I dont know what he was using as a set up but I got a Twin Reverb for my main amp and usually use a 62ri Strat or Thinline.
